I only play games where I have at least one other challenger besides me, so I can be sure not to be the unpaid kindergardener for a trash team thanks to nonexistant matchmaking, where I have more kills as lucio than either dps and the tank either… So it’s important that whenever we have these titles we actually use them.
Or just remove all the name tag things and crack on.
And what if you have huge gaps between your ranks in different roles?

And this is why they should either remove them totally, or make them role specific.
It is the biggest reason people cry “matchmaker” when things go wrong in game, because they see the “challenger” tag and assume thats their MMR.

Yeah people get triggered by that a lot but well, its mostly because the lack of transparency in Competitive.
Just show everyone’s rank on the role they are playing Jesus christ, its not that hard.

Honestly, if we all just chilled out and treated the game for what it is, a casual game… we probably wouldn’t even need that.
But, your suggestion is probably easier and more likely tbf.
Indeed, thing that were the norm in OW have since been removed going into OW2.
Hopefully they do bring back the rank symbol in matches per profile.

Of course, it’s still by far the best bet you can take, statistically. Also, usually someone who is Masters in one role won’t be silver or gold in another, that’s just not a thing.
I have created a script that actually recognizes the people on both teams (without hacking into the game in any way, of course - purely visually by evaluating a screenshot file taken via the normal screenshot mechanics!) and then terminates and restarts the game until the matchmaker gives me a match with at least one other challenger in my team, and alerts me via a loud “gong” sound fx that I can now sit down and at high probability find a decent match to play.
This may take 10-15 minutes, but statistically the difference in quality and enjoyment to normal matchmaking is insane. It is basically as if we suddenly have a half-way working matchmaker (instead of a 1/10th way working one).
What if a person just doesn’t like using titles? Isn’t it a bit presumptious to demand their use?

I don’t know if that was a serious statement but just in case - that worry of yours is completely disconnected from the actual thread logic, nobody wants to force you or insinuate anything, everything is going to be fine.
Also the thread’s name is literally “make sure you enable your “xxx” titles please”
This makes it feel like you are demanding people to use their challenger titles. I might have misread your meaning but this is how the thread and messages made me feel.
And just in general, just because someone has a title doesn’t mean they want to or have to equip them.

I don’t care for titles either (most seem rather silly to me) - which is why it’s easy to just utilize them for some practical purpose instead.
