3 games in of overwatch 2, and i get intense migraines. Versus the old, which i could endlessly play, no issues.
I am autistic. With that comes sensory differences, and occasionally issues.
I am hypersensitive to light, and also am often prone to becoming visually overwhelmed.
Between the fact that every hero has glowy bits on them, every ability is glowy and bright… every outside corner you turn into you’re blinded by bright harsh white light…and taking damage or heals clutters the boarder of your screen to silly amounts.
There’s that much visual clutter now, whether its lighting effects (which in the video, graphics and accessibility settings, there are NONE currently that can reduce, alter, or remove the harshness of these), that for others like myself, it is unplayable.
Unless updates come out, which allow us to reduce how intense the lighting is, how much of it there is, as well as allow us to alter how the healing/damage shows up on screen etc…
You have essentially taken away a sensory friendly and accommodating game (of which we paid money for), for a free to play game, that is sensory hell, and causes us physical and mental pain literally, when we play it.
Not every autistic is going to have the same issues I have, however some will. Though its not just my group this effects. People who suffer with periodic migraines, or those who suffer migraines from stress. People who struggle with being light sensitive for various other reasons.
I understand that you want to make it flashy, but if you are going so full whack for that, at least give us the option to make it visually painless for those who this negative effects.
I liken the game visuals to be alike to league of legends now, in the aspect that, my brain cannot process or see anything besides lots of flashy bright lighting bits everywhere, so i cannot see characters. I cannot see what’s going on to any degree, and I’m hurting in the process due to how my brain due to my neurotype (being autistic) takes in information differently, and to a much higher degree, than that of a typical non autistic person.
Please make the game accessible for everyone, as right now, I’m going to have to uninstall overwatch and battle.net at last, until future updates hopefully amend these issues. Pretty sad to lose a paid game, for one you literally cannot play without being in sensory hell, having pain and meltdowns. I would love to play the game, but i simply cannot any more.
PS: for anyone who feels angry reading this, im not asking for permanent changes/alterations to the game for everyone. Im asking for settings that allow us, who need to alter these for our physical and mental comfort, to have the ability to change these to make overwatch painless for us and playable once more.
If this would be implemented, it would literally not effect anyone who doesnt need these accessibility settings.
