Matched with low levels

This match making is honestly terrible. I am 400+ and I get matched with low levels who have zero idea about to how play, sometimes not even how to aim. This really needs to be fix, I am not the only one complaining about that match making.

Maybe they can match same level players together. Let’s say 100-200 together.

I know that a lot of people want to play games with their low level friends but there is quick play and arcade for that. Thank you

The way I see it, the matchmaker wants you experienced guys to teach the newbies.

There is quick play. They can learn how to play there. They can get matched with higher levels there and learn a lot of stuff but competitive is different.

There is the argument that level does not equal skill.

However, something that interest me is the following question:

How much playtime is required to play competitive games and how long does it take in other games like LoL, CS:GO or Dota2?

A level 10 doesn’t play the same as a level 500.

Exactly!!

A level 10 smurf does tho.

Also, are we talking about mechanical skill or cognitive skill?

Last time I checked smurfing wasn’t a good thing to do.

Both.

Which is why one argument to increase the level requirement is to make smurfing more appealing.

Mechanical skill isn’t exclusive to Overwatch and only cognitive skill can be learned with experience in Overwatch.

However, mechanical skill has a bigger impact than cognitive skill.

This is why a low level CS:GO veteran could beat a high level player who only touched Overwatch as an fps.

Considering that the average OW player is in high gold, low plat, there aren’t as many people in the lower levels as the middle tiers. If you find that you are getting frustrated by comp, then you can always go to the wild west of quick play, where you can be who ever you want to be. You can play anyone from Mei to Torb and not get flamed your team. You can practice the heroes you want to play without the stress of SR, or newbs ruining your enjoyment of the game.

High level matters only if the playtime was used productively the right way (learning from online sources and better players). Those players who are just “casually” playing games without thinking or checking out what better players are doing pretty much learn next to nothing after about level 100.

At the beginning a lot of things can be learnt in a passive way: map knowledge, experiencing the abilities of other heros and observing how those heros fight each other. However this passive way of learning reaches a plateau and slows down significantly after some time.
