Matchmaking in competitive

Is it only me that gets matchmaked with apes? I have been playing this game for ages and i have noticed that with overwatch 2 the matchmaking system is something like that of league of legends. This means that you will either get carried by a superhuman in your team or get dragged down by one or two players that have never heard of the game before in your team, and the latter is way more common than the first. Each one of these scenarios is not fun at all cause games last 5 minutes and you either did nothing or got obliteraded. Why is it happening? There is also no afk protection, if a player goes afk you just loose the same progress you would lose normally as if it is your fault you had an afk. Horrible competitive experience.

There’s a video on one sided games and the issues that caused them. (It’s not the game)

But if you’re in gold, or somewhere around there, you’ll likely get vast swings in match quality.

It’s not just you.

Overwatch was a balanced game, matches were balanced, very rarely was it one-sided, and even then, the match was one-sided due to an epic play let’s say.

Overwatch 2 has been one-sided since release, and has always been an issue since it’s release.

The matchmaker was far superior in OW than what we got in OW2.

Yep that is another issue. It’s good that you have raised that here also. Other games have pauses on them to cater for such scenarios and then match result nullified for the people who it affects.

Match maker is the same in both games.

Things were changed. They made is so that between the role types, there won’t be a disaparity between their ranks. They also introduced wide groups.

These are just a couple of changes made.

To say they are the same is laughable.

Indeed.

The match maker hasn’t changed though. It still does the same thing.

Group restrictions, or loosening of, don’t change what the match maker is doing. Nor does role matching.

Those changes are part of the matchmaker.

If you didn’t read it, I’ll tag it again below:

I’m sure at least that OP will understand.

If match maker is picking 1-100… But then you adjust it to be 1-110. You’re not changing the match maker.

The match maker is still doing exactly the same thing. You’ve just given it more or less to pick from.

Let’s put it this way. You’re in excel and you write a basic VLOOKUP formula (ie a match maker of sorts)… If you add more data into the array, you’re not changing the VLOOKUP formula, you’re just changing the data it looks at.

Exactly the same thing
You’ve just given it more or less to pick from

By definition, it’s different.

So you’ve changed the data array and not the algorithm.

its literally the luck of the draw, you either get a good team or you don’t, just accept the loss, carry on and hey don’t forget to buy our skins in the shop!

Do you even know what an algorithm is? Because from where i’m sitting, it sure doesn’t seem like you do.

The algorithm is what dictates how the matchmaker picks players and how it pools them together. This has been changed, thus the matchmaker in and of itself has been changed.

It doesn’t matter how many times you try to twist and turn it to fit your ridiculous narrative, because those are just facts.

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Yeah, but like… what did you actually order? Was it a Big Mac or something?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Okay, but specifics? Fries? Burger? Drink?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Wait, was it a Happy Meal, or something else?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Alright, alright… but what was in the bag?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Roku, I need details! Nuggets? McFlurry?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Sure, but what kind of McDonald’s? Like, breakfast or dinner menu?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Can you at least tell me if you had a drink with it?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Alright, fine. Just tell me: was it chicken or beef?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Please, just give me one detail. Any detail!”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

Person: “Roku, I’m losing it here. What did you actually eat?”

Roku: “I had a McDolands.”

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Moral of the Story, any change to the matchmaker = It’s the same matchmaker.

Cool story. Had McDonald’s tonight. Wrap of the day, side salad, 6 nuggets. Delightful.

You seen the bite size hashbrowns they may be bringing out to go on the brekky menu?

I have, but i don’t rate their breakfasts. Too many calories for very little taste.

But this, 600 calories, high protein, balsamic dressing, spot on when you’re time limited.

It could have 0 cals and it would still be unhealthy due to how the meat and everything is processed, not to mention every chemical they add into the mix.

Thanks for letting me know.
