Matchmaking - is horrible, broken, rigged AND not competitive at all

As a returning OW1 player, I only played a little of S1 and some of S9 before really getting back into things this season.

Originally, I felt my skills were rusty and I could see playing in Silver/Gold felt right. Move on a few weeks, and I’m now seeing a pattern of matchmaking which is already being discussed. There’ll be massive swings, where the games seem totally fair and normal, win some/lose some, until I’m put into multiple games, one after the other, with either a bot, a new player, or someone leaves. The coincidence is just uncanny, that an entire evening of gaming is actually just reporting bots for blizzard.

Have blizzard ever made a statement on this? What are they actually doing to make this game enjoyable for people? Do they even care?

It’s pretty confusing when I verse a friend whose on a smurf masters account with their friends, and we still manage to hold a decent fight (in Gold as a duo). Yet, I’m placed with teammates who don’t even know the fundamentals of the heroes they play.

Watching a soldier 76 spam I need healing, whilst using bionic grenade and then immediately walking away from it. Like, No, I’m not at the same bracket as this player.

I see alot of people defending this rhetoric of ‘you belong where you are’. Just ignore them, and if your one of them, your addition to this conversation is not only completely useless, but also not needed or wanted, so please scroll on.

My question is, do we just accept this the way it is? Have blizzard ever hinted at plans to fix the bot situation? Why do we just keep letting this happen??

I am now counting 6 games in a row with one player on my team being a bot. That’s almost two rankings and hours of wasted time in this game.

Blizz, do you care that you’ve ruined this game??

You lost it in the title saying rigged. Don’t fall for the conspiracy theories champ.

Maybe. But I’m not wrong. I have no care for your feelings, this isn’t personal… It’s a video game with strangers.

Ok buddy, maybe I need to be more black and white. I know what my skill level is, and I have vod reviews, and friends checking over them, scrims etc. I’m not here to discuss, nor did I ask for your opinion on that. I’m talking about blizzards matchmaking. So try and stick to the topic.

Yeah,. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with the match making (they can always make fine tuning adjustments of course)

You are blaming human behaviour on a basic match making algorithm. It isn’t responsible for what players do.
