Matchmaking quality is seriously one sided right now.
How is it possible that the match maker is this far skewed?
Have Blizzard actually maintained their resource around the matchmaker or have they just handed it off to their junior devs to monitor/develop?

They slightly adjusted MMR with the SR reset.
Until most people have done placements and then played a bunch more (the first games after placements have big adjustments). There is always the chance some games might feel a little scuffed.
I agreed mmr don’t do anything smurfs always win every game Smurf’s alt account
Matchmaking is pretty much an impossible task at this point and there isnt really anyway to improve it. I think whats increased the issue is the change to 5v5 from 6v6 putting it in a worst state.
Logically, 5v5 makes match making quicker and easier.
The more people you add to a lobby, the longer and harder (lol) it theoretically will be to make an even match.
6v6 would not improve this. Whether 6v6 could improve other things, that is for another discussion. But match making it won’t help with.
I agree mate! It certainly does feel that way!
The issue with matchmaking is down to the mechanics of the game and how it works. Communication is the biggest advantage one team can have over another, and as most people play solo or in pairs the smaller the team the more influential they are.
For example a 2 stack in a 6v6 only make up 33% of the team and with 2 tanks unless both players are going into the same role they only have 50% control over the healing/dps/tank roles etc. Now with 5v5 if one of them is a tank they have 100% control over the tank and 50% of another role.
The reason why more teams get rolled is because a 5 stack is more common than a 6 stack so it happens more often.

Match making and what you describe are 2 separate things.
The game mechanics and them not being utilised by players is something they’ve tried to change over and over.
Match making just picks players based on a number. After that it washes its hands. For good to bad.
Their programmers either need more coffee, meth or more whipped slashes.
Working for this company must be a nightmare. EU zone, PM me if you want to get out of this hell. I have a wide network.
hopefully with Microsoft they can attract the best talent and turn things around with the devs.

One would hope that Microsoft turns this around. We can certainly see that the developers have no idea what they’re doing.
