Is anyone else noticing how Mauga’s gun flashes are sometimes way too bright on some maps or situations? As strange as it sounds, sometimes when looking at Mauga when he’s shooting in your direction I find that his gun flashes are blinding and disorientating. The hero becomes physically difficult to look at sometimes. I’ve played with someone else who’s noticed that exact issue, so I’m wondering if this has been spoken about already. Or if anyone else even knows what I’m talking about.
Screenshots would help.
The game becomes a flurry of colors at times, especially in team fights. What you have described, though, I only experieced when my GFX card was dying in the middle of a game; pink surfaces, flashes covering the whole screen.
If you have an ASUS GFX card I would advise you to get the “GPU Tweak” software, where you will have much more control over your hardware and its performance.
Mauga has only added to the visual clutter. It’s not good.
Games with him become who can survive the headaches after all the Q’s are pressed
I have experienced the same visual clutter, especially with Mauga. I think what this person is describing is the flashing and rapid VFX of Mauga’s gun shots, particularly when firing both guns. For me personally, it becomes very hard to look at when he is shooting at you. I regularly have headache after these games, and it’s not pleasant. It wasn’t bad before, but now it’s become too much, and for other people – those with chronic diseases that react negatively to flashing lights – it may actually be a considerable risk factor.
I just wrote about this on Reddit’s r/OverwatchUniversity because Mauga’s gun gives me headaches (wrote the post on 1/7/24). I barely got access to Mauga two days ago (1/5/24) and wanted in on the fun before they nerf him into oblivion. The Reddit moderator did lock the post because he thought this was a personal medical issue (it might be), but I knew there HAD to be others playing Mauga that got headaches too. I deleted my post (today, on 1/8/24) because I was embarrassed to have brought it up.
I have been told I’m epileptic because I had a seizure when I was 2. I am slightly worried Mauga’s gun may cause a seizure because of how intense the headaches are after playing him 3 or 4 matches in a row. Dva is pretty flashy, but I don’t get headaches as close to what I get with Mauga. I don’t know if Dva’s graphics have slightly changed because I HARDLY get headaches from playing Dva anymore.
He was fun to play with but… I think I will just play with other heroes for now and avoid his flashing in abundance of caution
Edited to add: I play on PS4.
Edited for clarity.
I think it’s a good shout to warn people. Someone might have an un diagnosed epilepsy and have their first seizure with something like this.
I did notice my eyes getting tired lately with overwatch, i need to see if there’s any difference between playing and not playing mauga.
Pretend you are epilectic, animate in hospital, call lawyer, sue blizzard for missing warning. USA way, should be ez as cutting butter. They deserve it tbh.
Or worse, die because its real, let the company walk away because no one is alive to sue.
Eyes get tired playing any game, or watching TV, it’s natural.
It is, that’s why…
Which means that i will observe and see if anything is up or not before claiming anything.
Won’t be any difference because you’d still be playing the game, which means you’d be focusing, which means your eyes will naturally get tired.
There is difference if you do it right and try to approach it in a data collection manner.
One day, i don’t play mauga and avoid looking at enemy maugas as best i can. Note down how tired my eyes feel and how many matches i played.
Then compare to a different day where i do play mauga and don’t avoid looking at enemy maugas. Write down how many matches i’ve played and if my eyes feel any different. Aim to play the same amount of matches.
Do this for several times, i’d say at least a few weeks or months to see if there’s any other discrepansies.
I get sound clipping when mauga in the game on ps5
I’m not epileptic but there’s something wrong with Mauga VFX, at first I thought it was only when his “E” ability was active, but later I found that playing against another Mauga gets really flashy. Here’s a picture that I took from a random video on youtube. ibb dot co/B2PcsrN
