Mercy (E) ability rework idea (2018-11-21)

I know I’ve posted other stuff related to Mercy and my ideas for “reworking” her, but this is just for fun, so no riot ok, ok? :sunglasses:

With that out of the way, this idea is a mix of Reaper’s and Torbjorn’s old passive abilites, but in one new ability.

(E) Miracle Worker

  • Enemies will leave behind soul fragments that Mercy can collect to enhance herself and/or perform a resurrect.
  • Each soul collected grant 25 Favor, and Mercy can hold a total of 200 Favor.
  • Favor will automatically replenishes itself over time at a rate of 50 Favor every 25 seconds.
  • Toggle this ability on to gain +50% increased Healing done and Damage done, consuming 20 Favor every 1 second. Has a toggle on/off cooldown of 1 second.
  • Resurrect will now be an interact-ability (F) with no cooldown, but are only available when at or above 100 Favor and will consume all Favor upon cast.
  • Soul fragments will have a pick-up range of 7.5m (15m in Valkyrie), and will last for 10 seconds.

NOTE: Numbers and some functions can be tweaked, while Regeneration, Angelic Descent, Caduceus Staff, Caduceus Blaster, Guardian Angel, Resurrect and Valkyrie will stay the same as on the live server.

Don’t know if this is any good, but I think this could be fun and rewarding to play with, and also, now Battle-Mercy is even more of a thing, and who wouldn’t want that, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting but dont we need F to use sym’s teleporter?

Both New Torbjorn and Sombra has a similar mechanic with (F), where they destroy their stuff (Translocator and Turret). I think if you are near a Sym TP it will priorities the TP before destroying their stuff, could be similar for Mercy in my concept. :wink:

As you’ll notice, I’ve moved res onto “R”, since Mercy doesn’t need to reload her staff anyway, and “R” for “Res”? It’s a sign! :yum:

That’s nifty! BUT! Very hard to balance between game situations, as there will be situations where gathering favors is very easy and those where it’ll be impossible. Not saying that it isn’t interesting to have that factor into your hero choices, but essentially you have 2 types of abilities:
a) win more
b) lose less
To win more means that while you’re ahead, it gets you even more value, while losing less means that it’s easier to recover from something bad. Lucios Boop is a lose less mechanic - Genji in your backline, but at least he only disrupts your healers and doesn’t kill them. D.Va bomb is win more - only effective after their Rein is down (for the most part), but when he is, it can be huge. Ressurection is the definition of lose less, but when you make it more accessible by winning more, it can be a high variance thing - either utterly useless or game winning.

Still, don’t you think that different HP-pool heroes should require different amounts of favor? (#ressbabydva)

Let me see if i got it right:

When your team is winning, Mercy is more eficient as she heals and ressurrects faster. But now when your team is losing, she’s just worse.

Not a good idea if u ask me, sorry i pass.

Mercy’s best rework/fix is pretty easy. Revert all her changes untill season 2 or 3. There , problem solved.

Finally, if you wanna rework/fix only her e ability, it’s also pretty simply; Insta cast time but ressurrected players are either unable to move for few secs or resurrect with only a portion of their health (let’s say 10% for example. But again, leaving Mercy with her current boring and unimpactful ult is just a big fk u to all mercy players.

They made resurrect a CD ability so that in a way it can counter attacking Widowmakers. With this soul mechanic i fail to see that happening. Currect resurrect has a place, its just not meta, and mercy is ok.
The way i see this chance, After 8 frags Mercy will stack the power to resurrect 2 players, without a cd, and that sounds brokenly op.

Mercy’s current ult gives less healing & Damage power then this ability.
Ohh and this Favor metar sounds like something that’s passive, Mercy already has a passive.
I don’t see any degeneration in the Favor meater so stacking up and holding is going to be a think, making it even more op.
I dont know i just don’t see anything negative, interactive or fun in this ability. Sounds like a blaten power buff with a gimmick.
