Have you guys been on the enemy team of a Pharah, Mercy combo? Or a Mercy that pockets a 1 trick player and together carry the game? Have you been a Mercy that does this, or someone that has a Mercy do this to you?
Honestly, it is frustrating. Mercy pockets are so easy to do, and with a good duo, you can carry a whole team to victory. Mercy should heal others too in my opinion.
What’s your thoughts on this possible change to Mercy:
-Decrease healing done overtime if healing the same hero (prevents pockets)
-Increase overall healing per second (compensates for the above nerf)
This potential update (in my eyes) would cause Mercy players to consistently change their healing target, and focus on healing everyone instead of being a single hero’s pocket mercy. It could also potentially increase communication on enemy teams, allowing them to focus heroes who have recently been healed by mercy, because if mercy goes back to save them, they’re healing would be reduced.
Just an idea <3
In theory, this could work.
In practice there needs to be a clear time limit and a rule of when her healing goes back to normal after not pocketing.
Or if the beam diminishes only after a certain time of staying on a single ally and how to make it reset.
If this ruling is fair, i’m on board.
Sometimes you have to stay attached to a teammate to just keep them alive, but perma dmg boosting someone who keeps just deleting your team time and time again is just cheap.
But is the problem healing or dmg boost?
With healing there could be a rule that your target needs to take a certain amount of damage or the beam diminishes.
If your target takes a 150 dps, it’s impossible to keep them alive in the first place. But it would make it so that the beam on a sniper who only takes occasional poke damage would diminish in time, lessening the potency of the pocket.
A damage beam could be a resource meter, similar to moira’s healing. But mercy needs to heal to fill the dmg boost meter.
Maybe?
amazing, I didn’t evening think about the moira resource system. In my eyes, i’d have pictured hypothetically;
if you are getting damage boosted, and the enemy targets you, the mercy would want to swap to healing to save you. With the idea I was suggesting, that healing would be diminished overtime, and making the pocketed player more vulnerable.
I appreciate you thinking hard about my idea, and growing on it. Moira’s resource system could possibly change mercy for the better, and avoid pocketing in the process

They need to do something, in the lower ranks phara/mercy is an almost guaranteed win for numerous reasons, some of those reasons being lower mechanical skill and an unwillingness to help pressure them because they read somewhere that soldier counters phara , so think that means its soldiers job to 1v2 a phara/mercy.
I just heavily dislike pocketing. Mercy should be a triage healer, bouncing from teammate to teammate. It’s an enjoyable play style which should get rewarded more to entice people to stop being an afk pocket bot.
The resource bar would make boost beam more valuable to time right, instead of the mercy just idling behind a corner with the beam permanently active.
She would have to dive into the fight to heal her team to renew that damage beam, thus make her stop pocketing.
