Mercy is currently a meta hero with her consistent healing, consistent damage boost, her ressurect, and extreme mobillity. While this may be true, her ult, Valkyrie sometimes feels like an ult that’s nothing but a weaker version of different ults combined. I feel Valkyrie needs a slight buff to help Mercy out a bit.
Valkyrie is a transformation ult that grants mercy faster mobility, flight, AoE head and Damage boost, and unlimited ammo on her gun. The ult lasts for 15 seconds and Mercy can potentially pump out up to 900 healing (without ana grenade). However, compared to Moira’s ult, she actually punps out less healing. Moira can do up to 1,120 healing at 140 healing per second, in a single ult for only 8 seconds. Zen also has a healing ult that does 300 helaing per second and can do up to 1,800 healing in only 6 seconds. While both ults have higher impact in a small time frame, Mercy seems to have the weakest out of the trio at 60 helaing per second in a 15 second time frame. That being said, Mercy ult has virtually no impact in the current Gtaviton Surge-Dragon Strike meta while Moira and Zenyatta have the potential to leave at leats the tanks alive after the devastating combo.
One buff idea to help Mercy out a bit, is to up her Valkyrie healing somehow. Possibly, Mercy’s beam target would get 100 healing per second, while the rest of the AoE targets grab the normal 60 healing per second. This would help Mercy out a bit in keeping her tram topped up as well as making sure Mercy has a better sense on who to actually target instead of picking the person next to the most people and chain helaing them all at the same rate at 60 HPS which is barely just above Lucio’s Amp It Up helaing which comes up more often than an ultimate does.
Another minor buff I may suggest which doesn’t include the previous suggestion, is to give Mercy no Guardian Angel cooldown. This may be unnesscesary and probably unneeded but hear me out. You as the Mercy, are in a position during Valkyrie healing your team. Your Zen then ults and you don’t need to heal your team anymore. However, you see some flankers on the brink of death 1v1’ing someone and you have barely anytime to clutch them. Unfortunately though, your Guardian Angel is currently on it’s 2 second cooldown and you can’t reach that target in time and they die. In a worst case scenario, that one death could be the reason you lost the game, and why that flanker got salty at you for not healing them. While the GA buff seems so minor, that it probably won’t help Mercy at all, it has the potential to help a flanker out.
Finally (since I don’t the buff list to go on for too long), as a dramatic change that can be considered both a nerf and a buff, is to make Mercy’s ressurect timer go on a 15 second cooldown during Valkyrie. What you may be think is, “Oh, this is just going to make Mercy the dominant hero choice again.” No, that’s not what I intend to happen. This is how it will work. Mercy has to have already used ressurect before hand to get the ressurect cooldown to 15. However, Mercy has to be smart about when she activates Valkyrie, since it will be able to go two ways. If she activates Valkyrie with the Ressurect on a cooldown above 15 seconds, the cooldown will reset to 15 seconds. If the mercy activates Valkyrie with a resurrect cooldown with under 15 seconds left on the cooldown, the timer will turn to 15 seconds. In other words, lets say the Mercy just used resurrect and used Valkyrie. The timer was on it’s normal cooldown, but now has been shortened to 15. However, if the Resurrect has 6 seconds left on its cooldown, the cooldown will jump up to 15 seconds instead. This will make Mercy players to think before they activate Valkyire, since some Mercy players just like to recklessly throw away their ult before a major teamfight.
Thank you for listening to me rant about Mercy buffs and what not. Feel free to leave your comments, questions, and concerns in the reply box.
Edit: All buffs are spereate buffs and to not be confused with all going in as one big buff.
