Hello.
I had finally decided to play more ranked. Currently, I just do my placements and let it sit for the season. I feel out of place in ranked because I rarely communicate with my team.
Most, if not all, games I’ve played previously had given me the option to use open-mic by adjusting my microphone sensitivity so to not annoy my teammates with random background/clicking noise. I have been playing like that for years and find it hard to speak otherwise. Overwatch, sadly, still doesn’t have the option.
It may be silly to ask a dev to change their game just because of my habits, however, I do feel that if you’re giving us the option of open-mic, mic sensitivity adjustments should also be provided.
or you know …use push to talk. or adjust the gain on your mic with windows or on the mic itself if you have a decent one. i personally mute EVERYONE who dont use push to talk
Can’t you just change mic sensitivity in windows?
Dude has a point. I have the G633 headset and can’t use it in game - it picks up the most minor background noises, even my clicks are audible. Doing adjustments via Windows settings has been meh, barely made any difference. Downloaded Voicemeeter Banana which would glitch out on me every once in a while and stop working, restarting it would fix it but obviously I can’t go and restart it in the middle of comp games so yeah it wasn’t a solution either. Even when it was working it was barely doing its job. The settings that cancelled out my background noises also cancelled out my own voice unless I literally shouted.
The audio settings in OW are pretty awful.
They should have a device selector and a bar for sure.
- there are free tools that can do it, though it probably will introduce some small latency. Like voicemeeter I think.
But the game should just offer more mic options. Steam does it well.
