I don’t see why Mouse and Keyboard is blocked for consoles. Old interviews used to say that it may be a possibility when cross play happens and I understand that to keep it fair, but cross play has been here a while and there’s still no word on it.
If player connect M&K just put them in a pc queue to keep it fair, I don’t see why it’s just outright banned, it creates a skill gap and not everyone can afford buying a pc just to use keyboard and mouse.
So why not allow it, even if limited to pc queue?

Agree.
You can freely use controller when playing on pc, so it should be the same for KBM on console
The problem is that developers can’t always detect it (think of devices like Xim).
No it shouldn’t. The difference is that a pc player who decides to use a controller chooses to gimp himself whereas a console player who decides to use keyboard and mouse gains an unfair advantage over other console players who didn’t choose for that.

M&K support and controller support should be a default standard both sides.
This stigma needs to be removed. Weapon accuracy for most games is higher on controller anyways, so they are at an advantage in mixed lobbies.
OW is a slight outlier because of the amount of movement based mechanics. But good console players will still beat most pc players. And others won’t improve that side if they are sheltered away from it.
Gaming should bring us all together. Not find another excuse to segregate people.
I don’t want keyboards to be accessible on consoles. I reckon it’ll cause a bit of a stir.
Ah yeah that’s why almost no-one plays controller on console T500 and higher ranks because a controller is such a good instrument. On average MK still has a huge advantage over controller players.
Than you shouldn’t advocate for MK on console because all that will do is alienate controller players and push people farther apart.
Of course it will.
Role queue caused a stir.
An hero change causes a stir.
A random arcade mode going out of rotation… You get the idea.
Will it improve the game. Who knows, only trying will tell you. But it will mean more people playing together. Short term pain for some, long term gain for most.
Consoles have MK support that is auto detected now, xim is still used even without MK support so what difference would it make? People aren’t going to go out to buy xim when you can just plug a MK in.

- top500 is literally 500 people. youre not exactly looking at much of a sample size.
- there are streamers whose whole identity is that they used controller. or there was, idk if they are still active, like I said, the controller was like their whole personality but they definitely existed.
kephrii did a few games as widow on controller back in the day and he did well. think he used to be a pro halo player or something.
long story short, most kbm players are bad, a good controller player will be better than most kbm players.
there might be a better average on one control scheme but I really don’t think its as big of a difference as many people seem to think. especially not in ow.
I’ve always found using a controller for FPS games rather rubbish. I much prefer a keyboard and mouse for that better feel. Although I can see some people being really good at it. It’s just not for me.
I also prefer kbm, its been so long since ive used a controller in a shooter than I basically can not hit anything, but a preference isn’t indicative of what is better.
and yeah, kbm has a higher ceiling but the amount of people that can make use of that potential are very few and far between.

I won’t say freely .aim assist is missing on pc if you play with controller so anybody using it is handicapping him/her/self

True. Side point, they should just allow you to use whatever controller input you want, but just remove aim assist.
Not sure how strong it is in OW… but most devs get it horribly wrong. Like Halo… where controller players are 10-20% more accurate thanks to overzealous aim assist.
imagine allowing mouse and keyboard on competitive console and then asking what difference it would make

paladins handles it much better .they have separate lobbies for controller and mouse keyboard people irrespective of platform .
That would be a smart way round it. Have input lobbies instead of platform lobbies.
It’s because the DEV team are not keeping up with the times. Look at CoD on Console it allows KBM and match making is based on input device not platform, which is the way to go.
Hopefully with Microsoft coming in this old Blizzard way of thinking will be a thing of the past.
