I’m going to preface this by saying that I’m not a Pharah main.
But you should never Ult just as a sweeping tool after you’ve already got 2 picks, unless the enemy uses an Ult to try to recover.
The reason for this is that… You’ve already won the fight. Any Ults used aren’t actually contributing anything to the game. Secondly, you kill the rest of the enemy team much quicker, so the enemy are less staggered, which is something you shouldn’t be trying to do. And thirdly, you’re denying Ult charge to any of your teammates that would appreciate some extra charge before the next fight.
Mercy, if even two of your teammates are critical and you press Q they’re gonna die anyway and it’s gonna be a wasted ult, it’s good only for the damage boost
Pharah and McCree often die during their ult. Often they don’t even get a kill. But at least, it has the potential to win a fight and be big. And a good Pharah or McCree will wait for the right time and spot to use it. If you just press Q the moment you get it, they surely are the worst.
Tracer ult feels like it only sticks 25% of the time. Even on pro level, it rarely sticks. And when you miss, it does nothing. The only good thing is, you have it every 40 seconds or so. But since a “tracer one clip on head” has the same effect and a similiar success rate, her ult doesn’t even really feel like one.
Oh, and on low tiers, Widowmaker ult is the worst. On bronze or silver it is like “press Q to see the guys you won’t hit earlier”.
Bastion. Often when everything goes wrong with your bast comp. It’s because he goes out of place into ult. 90% of the time I would much rather have him stay put in sentry mode. The damage is more reliable. Yes the tank damage is crazy, but sentry gets the job done.
Oh and people saying pharah and mcree needs to get real. Sorry.
Tank config is basically only usable when you’re hard pressed in a team fight where the enemy has 2+ more people alive than you, are close to you, and atleast 2-3 people are very close to eachother.
So yeah it’s kind of niche, but so’s the rest of him
Well, with mccree not only you won’t kill anybody, but the only one to die, is him.
Pharah’s ult is not useless one bit, all she needs is some support to decimate the whole team, the potential damage output plus the possibility to manually land the direction of the missiles, makes phara’s ult objectively better than mccree, which is not only bad, it is dangerous. for mccree
i think the worst ults are phara and McRee, when they ult they become sitting ducks, getting killed easily jsut for ulting,
in addition, i don’t like mercy Valkyrie ult i prefer the old one, mainly because she doesn’t do anything while flying and no one can kill her while she is up there (except for widow)
The original ult wasn’t only OP but many mercy players were waiting behind a wall (instead of healing) until the whole team died and then tried to resurrect them together for a POTG.
I think her new ult is pretty good and universal. It gives mercy a lot of boosts both from a support and self-defence perspective.
first of, people that state this, have either never played mercy or just are inexperienced.
secondly, people that played mercy like this died before they could rez or died afterward leaving their team down 1 healer.
and lastly, her new ult is a scam blizzard just wanted to change mercy and nerf her so she wouldn’t be top pick healer in esport, alienated the entire mercy player base and constantly ignoring them.
(try watching this if you wanna know more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAK3gvMN2CE&t=8s )
I think it’s completely reasonable. Having must pick heros is a bad thing.
Overwatch is based on hero switching. They should be support player base instead of mercy player base. Mercy is still a very solid pick in most situations but not always the best. She has a very low skill floor for beginners and flexers.
ana,zen and lucio are top tear as well now she has the lowest win rate of all support character because of all the changes.
switching mains is harder than you think, they spent 100 of hours on 1 hero only for it to completely change playstyle.
i say mercy player base, because how mercy mains are the ones that are getting treated badly,
mercy was good for low skill players yes, but she had a high skill floor, mercy has try surviving while healing,
every dps in the game knows to focus her making it difficult for her,
and mercy would teach newcomers how to heal now expect fewer healers on your team because of the removal of the learning curve and expect more dps players.
and like i stated she has the lowest win rate of all support characters of them all, making it that she is no longer a solid pick and even then they still kept on nerfing her, so much so that she has gotten 13 nerfs back to back, how is that fair.
(edit, just watch the video i linked in my previous message, they explaing evry thing you will need to know )
They changed Mercy from a reset switch to someone who plays a major part of a team fight. Her healing and damage boost in a close-quarters 6v6 is insane. It now wins team fights, just like most other ults.
I don’t know how they make balancing decisions/changes but in my opinion nerfing a low skill floor hero might have more to do with balance issues and pick rates in lower tiers and 80% of the accounts are platinum and below. I’m not surprised that zen and lucio are top pick in high tier (because of strategically useful abilities and the good defensive ults) but utilising their abilities (like speed dive, focused discord attacks) requires team coordination that is nonexistent in low tier. I can flex most support heros decently in gold but avoided lucio and zen for the previously mentioned reasons.
