Tried going as dps.
Waited 23 minutes, game found, someone leaves, game cancelled.
Waited another 25 minutes, game found, someone leaves, game cancelled.
Waited another 32 minutes, no game found, I give up and quit.

PTR wait times always suck because of a small player pool on PTR.

I haven’t had a queue more than 5 minutes, even as DPS. What moment of the day was it?
Maybe you were playing during an off hour when no one was on ptr? When I did my dps placements I usually got games in less than 5 min.
But it’s not really about the player pool, it’s about the proportion. If 2/3 of players want to play dps, then they will be getting only in one game out of 4, meaning for each game played they will on average wait for 3 games. Which is about 30 min.

Wait times for DPS will definitely be longer as Jeff also mentioned just because of the ratio between DPS players/heroes and the other classes. It’s a small price to pay for having a more stable team selection system I think. I’m a tank/dps main who regularly forays in to support territory whenever I have to heal, and I have no problem waiting a couple extra minutes to play Tracer if it means the system overall helps make the game more balanced and stable in terms of team composition.
I usually try out new heroes on the PTR a handful of times, then go back to live just because of how long the PTR wait times are. Not worth it for actual gameplay, but just to test stuff out.
takes me less than a minute to find a game as a healer, about a minute as a tank, less than 3 minutes as a dps.
and the time for tank being higher than healer is only bc of Sigma, usually tank would be the lowest…
Usually find a game within 1-2 minutes (sometimes seconds) depending on the role, but even as DPS.
Maybe you have a very high/low SR? In Plat/Diamond its quite fast.
Waited more than 1 hour as low bronze dps 691SR. Counter was 62 minutes, goes afk for tea, came back from kitchen and counter was reset to 0 and all starts from beginning seriously? Quit and uninstalled that PTR cancer. Blizz can’t even make normal matchmaking queues for 18 seasons for low ranked players.
I hope that will get better for you on the live version with a higher player pool. 3-digit SR is, IIRC, less than 2% of the entire playerbase, so pair that up with whoever plays on PTR, and it’s not abnormal there’s such a long queue.

everything oke over here, no less waiting times than 1 / 2 minutes.
My experience, everyone is on the ptr because I have a better expereince on the ptr since the release of 2 2 2 and the new hero Sigma.
Better team comps, low waiting times.
if people can’t grasp the basics, (ie; team composition) and how important that is for a good game, they’ll never understand why 222 is important.

I had one queue that was more than 15 minutes and it was because it was 6am on a thursday or something.
Most of the time it’s between 2 to 10 minutes to find a game, as any role.
Got to remember on PTR less players are playing altho those numbers might be bigger then usual now cos role queue has been quite in demand.
