I’m a relatively new player to Overwatch 2 and my game usually runs fine (60-110 ish FPS), but lately within the last couple of weeks I’ve been getting a lag spike in the middle of a match and then the game will run with extremely low FPS (10-25) for the rest of the game. If I end the game and get into a new one, the problem persists, and if I close the game and reopen it, it also persists. Once I restart my computer completely, it will run fine for a game or two but the problem will happen again most definitely. This has been happening more and more often lately, and I feel like in the last week or so I have only been able to play one or two games with a decent framerate before being afraid to play competitive because if I start lagging it’s a huge detriment to my team and to my own rank, since the game is almost unplayable at such low FPS.
I play on a laptop that’s about a year old, and I purchased it for school but made sure it specifically had specs that could run games because that’s something I knew I would do on it. Here are the specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz
Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.42 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
It runs on Windows 11 and I use Nvidia GeForce Experience drivers, if that makes a difference. I’ve spent a lot of time researching to find people who have solved similar issues, but haven’t found a solution yet. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, I tried updating Windows and my Nvidia Drivers, I messed around with the minimum and maximum processor state while on battery and while charging because I thought the issue could be caused by plugging it in to charge (I don’t think it is), but nothing has worked and I’m getting really frustrated because I enjoy playing games and this kind of completely ruins the experience for me. I’ve also looked at my Task Manager for processes happening in the background and I shut down every other tab I have open while playing but it doesn’t seem to help.
If anyone can offer any help or has a similar experience they can share and how they solved it, that would be great! Thank you and have a great day.
