Hello,
For 2-3 months, I can’t use my microphone in Overwatch. I’ve been playing this game over a year now and my mic was working fine but then one day, it just stopped working in Overwatch. My mic works in every other game and application, even works on Battle Net’s call feature. And I can talk normally in Overwatch in another PC.
My mic is actually a headset, which is the “Steelseries Arctis 3”. It’s plugged in with two 3.5mm headphone jacks into the desktop. It also has an application which it’s installation is optional and can work without it.
I even started a live chat with the support but they were unable to help aswell (Sidenote, the person who helped me " Aeshandaria" was really helpfull and nice. He couldn’t find a solution but was really helpful and tried to find a solution for an hour. So if any mods are reading this, send my biggest thanks to him one again) .
Now I will list the thing that I tried but didn’t work out so it may be easier to find the issue
- Re-installing the game
- Resetting all the settings on Battle Net
- Re-installing the Steelseries Software
- Checking Overwatch settings if I muted myself or not
- Changing the preset of the push to talk button
- Changing from push to talk to open mic
- Updated Windows 10
- Checking the Voice Chat Trouble Shooting
- Checking if the recording devices are on default on Sound Settings (both on Overwatch and Windows settings)
- Checking the voice settings in Battle Net
- Unchecking every tab under the Exclusive Mode in Windows Sound Settings
- Checking the mute button on my headset
- Trying a different headset/microphone
- Checking the Privacy Settings in Windows Settings
- Sending Overwatch Voice Logs to a customer support representitive
There might be some things I forgot to add so if your suggestion is already tried out, I will mention it and add it here
Things I haven’t tried that may be the issue
- Closing unnecessary background applications via MSConfig and restarting the PC (the reason I didn’t try this is that there were some windows related stuff in there and I don’t think that disabling them is a good idea
- Checking if the drivers are up to date (I don’t know how I mass check if my drivers are up to date
- Checking the ports (The agent in the live chat said it was unlikely because I could hear others in the voice chat)
I really don’t know what to do except taking the topic to this forum. The only way I can communicate with my team is via messages but its time consuming and can’t play the game while doing so. Any little suggestion, idea, though helps. Thanks for sticking with this long thread and please share what you have in your mind.
