My problem with competitive progress

In my experience with the competitive ranking system in Overwatch, there’s a clear gap between actual performance and what the system rewards. Even when I win my placement matches, I barely see any promotion. And when I keep winning afterward, the rank increase is still minimal—despite having a strong, game-impacting performance in most matches. Strangely, when I lose, the system seems to drop my rank more aggressively than it ever raises it when I win.

The frustration goes beyond slow progression. In one match, I played against someone using hacks—something that should be handled seriously to protect competitive integrity. Yet unlike some streamers who reportedly received compensation or rank adjustments after similar incidents, I didn’t get any meaningful restoration of my progress. It felt like the damage to my rank simply didn’t matter.

This inconsistency in progression and compensation creates real discouragement for players who consistently perform well. What the competitive community needs is a more transparent system—one that clearly connects individual performance to rank progress and ensures fair, equal treatment whenever rule violations affect match outcomes.
