Netcode issue - Discrepancy between players POV

Hello,

There is a very troubling issue currently in the game induced by the netcode. Often, from one player to another POV, different things are happening on screen.
Every time I play I get 3 to 5 issues like these per hour proving bad netcode from Overwatch. I can see myself do action on my screen and during killcam, those actions did not happen before I got killed.

Example:
Using iceblock with mei before being killed.

  • From my POV: Ice block appears then I dies
  • From enemy POV: Ice block has never been used

Using Lucio ultimate before being killed.

  • From my POV: Beat is dropped, green wave are on the ground
  • From enemy POV: Never touched the ground before getting killed

Using Genji dash before being killed:

  • From my POV: Dash is executed and Genji ragdoll fly in the air
  • From enemy POV: Genji dash never started

Using Mc Cree flashbang before being killed.

  • From my POV: Flashbang is thrown and never arrives
  • From enemy POV: Flashbang is never used

Using Tracer pulse bomb before being killed.

  • From my POV: Pulse bomb is thrown and stick on ground/enemy.
  • From enemy POV: Pulse bomb is never thrown.

I can go on and on about this issue as it happens multiple times, on many characters, each day I play.
It is very frustrating, I’ve been checking my connection to be sure it’s not coming from me. I have a stable 150mb/s connection with 3 to 5 ms ping and little to 0 packet loss while playing. My understanding is that your netcode is the problem here. Even if I die, it should never means my actions that I CAN SEE on my screen are rolled back.

What’s your latency IN GAME? Enable the display with this stats in game, maybe you have a big ping with the game server

They have “shooter favor” rule, so if someone is lagging when he shoots if the shot hits the target on his screen, then the game registers hit disregarding the defenders view, so people with a big ping can play this game normally

That’s mostly because match making doesn’t care much about ping. EU servers are the worst … you’ll be matched with all sorts of pings … even people from USA or Australia. There’s a reason why they don’t display other players’ pings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the tick rate is 60tick, which is acceptable, not ideal but it is okay, I believe it was 20 tick before. .

Not much you can do about the netcode, I tend to avoid playing somebody like Mei because dying whilst using Ice Block is frustrating, I died as Somba at the “safe” end of the teleport but the kill cam shows the enemy that I never used the teleport at all.

I get it a lot with junkrat, throw a mine on the ground, detonate it to jump away (escape) and enemy shoots me, kill cam shows no mine and no explosion from the mine.

I have 20ms.

The game must be a bit different via lan.

Also if what you guys said is right about the way it works (shooter favor + ping not taken into account) that indeed means the netcode is very badly designed as well as the matchmaking. This is frustrating as hell.
