or low silver. Worried about smurfing? But sometimes it’s not fair when you have a new account in your team. And when they are actually new or bronze, silver player trying placement for their fresh account. There’s no chance to win against actual 6 gold players, it’s not fair at all for the other 5.

Smurfing would just become much easier.
Would literally ruin the exact rankings of Bronze/Silver… so it doesn’t help much.
Average MMR is there for a reason.

This is one of the worst ideas Ive ever read this year in OW forums (Both US and EU). This literally would make smurfing even easier.
People that come from other FPS are NOT bronze or even silver at all. Forcing new players (whatever their actual skill level is) in the same 2 bottom ranks would make life (even more) miserable for the players that DO actually belong in that rank.
Also any Diamond, Plat, Master or GM player would have quite a “laugh” climbing and trolling in those ranks in the process of climbing.

Yeah. Fair play to people for trying to think of “solutions”, but if there was a system that was miles better for the game, that would fit what they envisage for a ranking system… It would probably be in place by now.

I do think new players should be forced to spend the first few levels (maybe to say level 5) being put through some training camp of sorts.
Where you learn the basics of every hero, and how they coordinate and every game type and so.
This might be boring as F for a smurf. There’s a slim chance it might deter them from buying a new account if they have to go through it every time.
But an actual brand new player will get into quick play, or whatever, at level 6 with a basic understanding, and they haven’t had to spend levels getting rolled and not learning a thing.
Just raise the level before you can play comp to 200 or something… 25 is waaay to low…
“Make smurfing mandatory for all accounts” how about we don’t do that…

You realize that there are people who actually have a real life right? And they want to play comp as well.

Haha. The forum suggestions to “solve” smurfing are interesting.
Ultimately it should be a verify account system with either bank details or ID… But if they wanted to do that they would have done it already.
The “problem” smurf accounts are the ones that derank… But even if you put actions in place like say suspensions after a certain number of losses in a row… That won’t stop people, they’ll just lose up to the penultimate game, and move on to another account.
There is no real solution, you can make it more difficult. But people will just derank old accounts. Or buy pre leveled accounts.
Best bet is to just report the derankers, and get on with your lives.
