New characters ruined the game. There is just too much CC

Here is a list of all the new characters added since Overwatch’s initial release back in 2016 and the cc they have brought into the game;

Ana - Anti-nade and Sleep Dart
Sombra - Hack and EMP
Orisa - Pull back (Not so bad this one)
Doomfist - Punch/knock-back and upper-cut
Moira (Only newly released hero without a form of cc)
Briggite - Bash and boop
Wrecking ball - Constant ability to knock everyone back, can knock people into the air with slam and ult also knocks into the air.
Ashe - Knockback/Boop and B.O.B ult-run knocks everyone in its path back.

That is at least 8-10 forms of cc that has been implimented to the game since its launch and if you stack that with the cc already in the game aka;

Reinhardt - Pin/charge
Pharah - Knockback/boop
Winston - Slightly thrown into air upon landing and ult knocks everyone back.
Symmetra - Turrets slow you
Mcree - Flashbang/Stun
Lucio - Knock-back/Boop
Roadhog - Hook
Junkrat - Trap
D.V.A - Knock back upon boost/thrusting
Mei - Constant freeze/slow and inability to do anything.

I just find myself in games now; hacked, stunned, thrown in air, naded, slept, frozen, hacked, knockbacked, booped, thrown in air, trapped, hacked, slept, naded, knocked back, knocked back etc.

I think Overwatch has potential to be a brilliant game which it once was but these additional heroes added EVERY SINGLE ONE (Except Moira) has a form of CC.

Overwatch has become a bit like WOW to me in the sense everyone can kind of do everything and it is just a complete and utter cluster-eff of a game.

Please note I am by no means a pro player however I have played for 2 years now, this is an alt account and I have played at master level.

There is just too much cc and I think about 40% of games are spent under some form of crowd control, waiting to respawn or running to the checkpoint, payload etc.

The game has become more frustrating than it is fun and I souly believe it is because of this.

What do you guys think?

Personally I started to worry about the amount of CC they added back when Sombra was released. With Doomfist i felt they had crossed a line.
when Moira was release I sighed in releaf as they didn’t add any more CC.
But that didn’t last.

I fell in love with the game because of of it being a fast phased hero shooter where the movement felt incredibly reactive and you didn’t have to wait around for long before you could get back in the action. Sadly with each added CC, some of this has been taken away.
While I’ve learned to play around all of them, i’m still not convinced it’s healthy to keep adding this many CC abilities to the game.
I’ve had other games completely ruined by CC stacking before, and i don’t want to see the same happen to OW. Although you can argue if it’s already happened.

I get that CC can be a necessary evil to combat mobility. But how about we put a break on the addition of high mobility heroes as well?

Maybe you all should not have been protecting characters with incredible mobility that gave them an unfair advantage from nerfs and we wouldn’t have needed so much CC just to even the playing field.

Said characters with mobility skills were completely deleted from the meta for months and still cant completely recover. This is not evening up the playing field, this is killing everyone inside the playing field.

Just throw Genji and Ashe into a industrial garbage grinder and the game will be playable once more.

Reins auto attack is a CC.

Her ult is a CC id you live true it and her mech call back is a CC, they push back/knok up.

And ult.

And mines.
You missed a lot of CC in this game.
To a point even Pharah rockets are CC.
And for last you missed the best CC in this game.
Earth shatter and Grav… Ults they made to combo are used atm to solo win a team fight.

Yeah, good point. Did miss those out, thanks for pointing them out but the fact remains that there is just too much cc and some games are nothing but a cc fest.

I’ve had games as Rein where, Hammond rolls, knocks me back, a sombra then hacks me. I’m launched into the air by hammond then a doomfist knocks me back with his punch and a Briggite bashes/flails me and I’m dead.

When you are playing the supposed ‘Main tank’ you shouldn’t be knocked around like a ping pong ball for 10 seconds, unable to do anything then just dying…Its really dumb and feels so bad for the game.

You know what else is bad for the game? Having a mandatory shield tank who can delete a whole team with a single press of a button even without seeing them and whose best counter is the very same shield tank. Everything that makes Reinhardt’s life miserable makes me happier.

Why do you hate Rein so much?

Many reasons. Why he gets to be a top pick for years, why he is so hard to bring down, why his ultimate is so good, why the community is ok with him being everywhere but other characters being slightly better than average enrages them.

I agree with op. The increasing amount of CC has been slowly ruining this game over time. I had this feeling already back when Sombra was released. I disliked her almost immediately but she was a niche pick so I didn’t think it would be that bad. But then they kept adding more and more and more with every new hero. It’s like some of them were specifically designed with the purpose to annoy others as much as possible. Whatever these devs are smoking they need to lay off it.

The fact that Baptiste doesn’t have any CC was a nice suprise, but the fact that something like that comes off as a surprise in the first place is pretty sad.

I think CC was is fine there needs to be diminishing returns tho, no one likes to be spammed by cc after cc after cc, not even i do, getting stunned cos you overly aggressive playing dive play style that’s avoidable by simply not jumping onto a Brigitte or anywhere near it.

doomfist, moira, brigitte, reworked sym and reworked torb are all trash. ashe … wow more trash. these characters truly have ruined overwatch.

Kind of sounds like you just want to play Team Fortress instead…

CC is so common in OW that it doesn’t even stand out to me.

A good Sombra can easily keep a Reinhardt at bay. Arguably a good counter to a Rein’s shield is also a Bastion.

CC can be fun, but it’s hard to balance because of the potential impact / lack of damage. It’s partly the reason why Mei is so hard to balance, along with her Ice Wall.

I can agree with this. Not sure about the diminishing returns; that might reduce that feeling when you stun someone. It also might be a blunt weapon. Stun stacking should be possible to build a comp around; but in moderation.
