I only flex the tank role sometimes back when i actually played comp and more likely played mainly support. In QP i guess it doesn’t count that much but anyway hearing how horrible the tank situation is and I guess that is mainly because of the increasing CC heroes.
So would it not be great having an actually new main tank that counters CC and is not that hard to play. Blizzard can make higher “skill” based heroes (Hammond) but let’s be real that the main player base won’t be hitting GM top 500 or go MLG pro. For me it sounds like it is better to please the 99% then the 1%.
Orisa can counter CC with Fortify, and Zarya can also with the bubbles so we probably don’t need another tank with protective abilities. Adding a new DPS or healer that can handle CC maybe…
New Torb will handle CC quite well with all the extra armour from overload. Moira has fade to dodge CC, like Reaper wraith form come to think of it…
Also, I think the idea of an anti CC main tank, would be a group anti CC, not single or duo target like the other two. Something like an anti CC aura would work, if be a little weird to be up against.
Something like this would risk being OP. Just imagine you have ulting Genji, Reaper, Soldier etc that all have anti-CC protection and the only way to stop them is just hope you kill them in time. A single Zarya bubble can already do that, but put it on multiple heroes and that’s going to cause balance issues. So I imagine that’s why Blizz have opted to keep anti-CC effects to being self abilities mostly. Plus if there was an anti-CC field, that could potentially make Zarya a trash pick by no longer being niche.
Unless it was on CD and had a short duration. Especially if the CD was long. Then it’d be much more tatical.
Another idea would be a damage reduction aura of some kind. It wouldn’t negate CC, but make follow up damage less strong. Would also protect heroes who are easily dove.
