Prior to the patch, all my role queues were Plat 2/3.
Now the patch has arrived, the ranks across the board are set to Gold 5?
Nothing in the patch notes reported this!!!
Any else observed such things?

Same here. Was silver 4 and with reset my “season high” was pushed down to bronze 2? (which i’ve never been). So I lost out on the season challenge, and the comp points associated with it.
same here was gold 2 tank and gold 3 healer, now im silver 2 tank and silver 3 healer
I was Diamond, was really looking forward to aim at Masters this season, now Gold 1, lel. This sucks out all motivation to even start playing this season. Just why should I do the work I already did again for no reason without compensation… no point in it.

Knowing Blizzard, it is another defect that they failed to find prior to putting this patch into production.
Yes. They said this was going to happen each season before launch. Never said how far, but the onus is on you to earn your rank.
So you can’t get boosted and camp it for example.
Agree, no comp camping and hopefully less incentive to smurph
Plat 2/3 down to gold 5 is a massive drop.
How is it even possible to hit G/GM if the drop is this big per season?
I understand that players who play 10 matches per season to maintain GM will get hit, but someone who plays consistently… this is very demotivating.
So, I went from Diamon 2 >>plat 5 (DPS) – D2 >> P5 (supp) – P3 >> G4 (tank) so it reverts approximately 8 tiers from my Diamond ranks but only 6 tiers for my plat rank? Seems a bit too strong of a reset… thoughts?

Not really, that’s 2 divisions. You’ll be back in 14 wins if that’s your true rank.
And if you’re some who plays a lot of ranked games a season. It won’t make a lot of difference because you’ll just be playing anyways.
No, it is not. It is 8-9 divisions. It is a lot. Gold 5 is the lowest division in Gold rank.
You will have to play 8-9 divisions with less skilled players again. Awful
No, you’ll play those with the same people you played last season with as they’ve also dropped.
And if people there are truly “awful”. You’ll have no issues stomping them and climbing quickly
Same for me i was high gold in very rank and now im low silver without played
In a few weeks, yeah. I’ve been playing against diamonds, and everyone is complaining that they’re in gold (as I am now.)

I’m afraid if they do these kinds of hard resets… The whole rank system is fully shaken up every time and you have to go through very unbalanced games all the time. Not a big fan here. Went from master 3 to plat 2

It would be nice if they explained how the drop works/is calculated. Classic Blizzard only giving part of the information.
Are you not finding your matches are still with similar players? I went from plat to silver 1, and all the people in my team when I checked last night were plat 2/3 last season.
But, it’s now on me to prove I can climb further than them again. Or just mess about and slap sliver players about later in the season.
That largely depends on what side of the dice you rolled in matchmaking, not everybody there is awful . GMs I know have told me it took them 100’s of wins to get out of the lower ranks because of bad teams.
I spent a whole attack round trying to convince my team on blizzard world not to keep running into the main choke point and dying and to push through the flank route to the left instead to avoid the widow etc…. literally the whole F round !
I watched them die again and again and again, me along with them because I was forced to go with them to try and keep them alive… they never made it through the first choke point.
Can you guess what happened on our defence round ?
The whole enemy team pushed instantly through the route I had spent the whole attack round trying to point out to my team and stomped on my team with little resistance.
If I had been placed on the other team instead of with that group of backwards individuals, that would have been a win and SR gain , not a loss.
I can deal with small mistakes, but not a whole round of insanity, I probably received some reports at the end of that game….
