Overwatch 1 Competitive Stats Gone - Why?

Hello Everyone. I’m here, because I can’t send blizzard a support ticket about this…

I have been in love with Overwatch 2, but there is one specific thing, who disapoints me quite a bit. All our Overwatch 1 Stats, from earlier seasons than the recent 6 seasons, is just gone. As a person who loves to check stuff like how much damage I have done since I started playing, how much damage I have done to shield barriers, and in general just being able to see my rank progression since I started is just not possible anymore.

I don’t know if its because Blizzard wanna save some money on storage capacity, which somewhat makes sense, but just no one is talking about this? Or there is some, but its a very limited amount, and it actually makes me feel disapointed, that they decides to just remove it, and not even be open to their community about this?

I even tried to send a question about this in their latest AMA thread on reddit, but it might not fit their topic, or maybe I was too slow typing idk, but I’m just very frustrated about this.

If they keep the season stats to get deleted when its a season who is like 6 seasons old, then I wont even be able to see my ranks I have achieved even in Overwatch 2?

I have achieved high ranks since Overwatch 2 came out, and as a person who worries a lot, and feel so unsecure about myself, it really puts a smile on my face when I see that I have achieved GM, and I should be proud. Like, I had never though I would ever hit that rank, and i’m so happy about it.

But, will that just be deleted after 6 seasons? Like, will all the stuff I have worked for, just be gone? I’m very disapointed, and I don’t know why people is not talking about this.

If its because there is a lot of storage cost by having 30+ old competitive season stats, and also new competitive stats from ow2, to millions of players, then its understandable. But could’ we not atleast just get to keep our stats for OW2?

I wish Blizzard would see this message, and possibly talk about this to the public, so we can confirm what will happend.

Like I know there is bigger stuff to talk about, but for me, this is actually something I really like about the game, that they’re just deleting?

I think it’s more because OW1 stats aren’t relevant now, so they’ll slowly fade out.

They probably should have an archive of sorts on your profile online so they aren’t lost forever. For those that feel a need to check.

They should have kept them on the game. It’s always nice to look back on.

Honest question. What would you use OW1 stats for?

Personally, I couldn’t care less if they stayed or went as I don’t find them relevant anymore. But interested to know what you’d need them for?

Personally (you didn’t ask me but i’m replying anyway) not much real use, but fun for a laugh and sometimes you just want to look at big numbers because they seem really ridiculous.

If one wants to find any real use for them, damage dealt and damage against shieldd numbers give am over arching view of what kind of targets you prioritise subconciously.

I meant more, what use are the stats from OW1 now. It’s a different game.

Also, in that persons case, they only played to level 46, and if I remember it was maybe 2/3 seasons they played at most. So wouldn’t be of any use. (Unless they were lying when they said it was their only account)

Debatable whether it’s a different game, but let’s say it is.

Keeping the stats in textual format, even for a very large number of players, really doesn’t take much space at all - you can hold about 250 pages of plain text in 500KiB - and it’s even smaller if it’s compressed. How about giving us the ability to just download a text file with the OW1 stats?

There’s also the question about OW2 stats - are they only going to keep the last few seasons’ stats of that too?

That I think would be fine, not sure what you’d use them for, but someone might.

Having them on your profile is a little irrelevant now. So many people have massively improved ranks as the game now suits them so much more, that they now get abuse for their progress (jealous people are pretty tragic).

In a sense I can see where the “debate” would be. But everything has changed, even if the change is tiny and very subtle in some cases. So, there would only be one winner in that debate if it was a competition.

Yep! Plus it’s always interesting to see your statistics throughout the months / years. They should have kept them in.

Genuine question though.

You didn’t play OW1 for very long, what use would those stats be for you, what would you do with them.

Unless you had another account, then I guess it might be useful.

Because they are pretty much irrelevant now . Competitive landscape has changed in ow2

Everyone here is talking about what would you “USE” the data for… (???)
What do you guys mean by using the stats? Do you guys only keep something that is in use?

I played comp from OW1 S2, and did not miss a single season until today. I sometimes want to remember those days and meta by looking at the most picks.

I feel sad that the comp stats are all gone, and I wish they are shown in game.

They aren’t gone. Just not visible.

May I suggest just watching YouTube videos of old matches if you want to reminisce.
