Overwatch 2 and accounts banned ?

So despite sharing the PvP, OW2 seems a whole new game what will happen to all account banned on OW1?
It’s resonable to think that you will carry the ban and also that you won’t.
It’s not like a DLC since it will have a different slot in the launcher.

For my self Im hoping to a restart…

The tiny minority of toxic players that actually get banned will hopefully STAY BANNED.

Not really answer my question unless it’s something proved that you are sure about and not your supposition…
However sorry to delude you but alot of them (like me) own alot of smurfs.

This may sounds arrogant and cocky, any way… usually toxic players are among the ones that care the most about the game so are also the ones that put most hours into practice and know how to play the game.
By my experience this usually lead to have smurfs and usually people gift you more just because yes… ( not account sharing just gifted keyes ).
I my self have 5; 4 gifted and 1 that I bought.

So… no theyr main be banned but they are still in game.

Before starting an usless argument Im gonna say that yes my main is perma banned and yes I could consider my self a toxic player… however I don’t really regret it. You end up banned when you chat because Blizzard has “proofs” while people that throw intentionally or trolls are very hard to punish and free.
I see that you are gold this why it may looks like toxic players are a very tiny part of the whole community… on Higher Ranks is not like that.

Would like to say that I learnt the lesson but it’s not true. I simply stopped flaming because I don’t want to make my career out of this game anymore. Reached impressive goals but they weren’t enough to make the cut but I do miss some of my skins/weapons.

Ps: I kinda expect alot of hate and outpost comments here; but I don’t really care. Just wanted to point out that if you want to satisfy your “sense of justice” and go like " yheee stay banned" it gonna be pointless because I know you won’t understand my situation so i’ll really don’t care. For my it was like a job.

Its stupid. If they get ban on overwatch 1 only, they won’t get ban on ow 2 cuz its a whole different server. Its like im saying “im ban on ow so i can’t play on world of warcraft” nah it doesn’t work like this. By logic. I guess.

toxic community from OV1 will be transfered to OV2 without changes

I don’t really understand what you mean. Anyway Is what you think or there is a source more detailed?

I am assuming that since it is still the same player community that you will be playing with (OW1 and OW2 playerbase is the same), Account statuses such as bans will resume. PvE modes might not consider bans however.

I nearly cried there. And Ive got same s… Guess we’re both will live in hopes there. But when OW2 launched we better hurry up to try to register our mains. So, I’m with u, brother. :frowning:

If your account is banned, it will stay banned.

While the game will be a whole new engine, and technically a whole new game (with the old one tagging along). All accounts, and account history will travel across. So banned players will not be allowed (unless they just buy a new account).

Yeah I agree.

I don’t think there’s an official announcement
BUT
It makes sense from a technical standpoint that since Overwatch 2 players can play with Overwatch 1, then they’re using the same servers…
And thus the bans remain.

I wouldn’t mind they do an unbanning according to the reason.

  • Cheaters stay banned.
  • Toxic people can be limited in chat (since on voice they can be muted)
  • Throwers get banned from comp maybe

Stuff like that.

In my games, most toxic people are those, who can´t watch their own positioning, they feed their butt and blame their team - specialy supports for it. I am former support main so I´ve been through lot of this BS. I would be only happy, if banned people will stay banned.
