TL;DR Is it just me, or are anyone else also getting offered the same things, you are available to buy already, in the “my shop” with no real new things? Same skins sort of pop up a lot?
I frequently get skins shown to me, that I could buy even before they were offered in the shop. I don’t understand the reasoning behind that. And they aren’t even discounted, either. So they just take up space for those 6 days. Also, why so few skin “slots”? emotes, VP etc. take up so many slots imo, so whatever with that in the grand scheme of things(again, not even discounted, but whatever). I just go ??? everytime I see it. I’d effectively spend more in the shop, if I saw new things to get - but I don’t so… sad.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk - have a good day.
The stuff on “just for you” is pretty useless.
It showcases the stuff that you haven’t unlocked but with coin prices. Even if they are usually all available in the hero gallery for credits.
It’s there to just advertise.
not exactly: it is a precise marketing strategy, which in some way can be interpreted as misleading advertising, but with some technical deception.
OW2 immediately showed many critical issues regarding its ferocious monetization combined with a very short availability window. The gallery, needless to say, is so full of things that you really have to explore it on the submenus before identifying something new. The shop is just a showcase that shows you exactly the content you want when you want, but in reality it’s even more subtle than that: it pretends to offer incredible offers for distracted gamers, which is exactly the audience it wants to attract.
In fact, the shop NEVER shows the prices of the individual items from the bundles, nor does it allow you to explore the item in the gallery for single purchase, limiting itself only to a disclaimer that does not redirect you to the individual item. the scam is amplified precisely in “just for you” content: they are ALL objects available at any time, they do not have the same type of time pressure as really new objects… they don’t want you to know until you find out for yourself . Starting from seaosn 8, OW2 has in fact made the contents of seasons 1 and 2 available continuously, keeping its regular gamers silent until obviously someone travels into the gallery. the same goes for the special weekly contents bundles in which they offer you OW1 offers… in coins, a real robbery.
In a certain sense I also think that “just for you” is the lowest point of bobby kotick’s marketing blizzard: find every expedient to treat gamers as people who are inattentive to their purchases, just like in mobile gaming. and sadly… this mechanism is perpetuating and ruining the game’s reputation.
I think you’re over thinking it. It’s just a shop with skins and bundles.
Enough people buy stuff for you to not have worry about it.
Wooow. Way to be really naive.
