You don’t quick play but yet you think it’s stupid? Maybe you should’ve played it a bit in the months before this was introduced because the leaver plague was getting absolutely out of control. I am not exaggerating when I say there were moments where you couldn’t have a single normal match with either leavers on your team or the enemy team. These people just need to grow a spine instead chickening out when they can’t win the match in the first 2 minutes. Games aren’t all about steamrolling, if some people can’t handle that they should go play bot matches or PvE games.
And let’s look at the facts here: you can still leave 3 out of 20 matches without any penalty and let’s be fair, regardless of what I think or you think, if you feel you need to leave 4 or more out of 20 matches, than yes you probably deserve this penalty. You can also leave as many maps you don’t like as you want without any penalty as long as you are still in the hero select phase and the match isn’t in progress yet.

That’s what you get for turning a game that wasn’t meant to be f2p, everyone and their grandma joining a game that don’t understand the game leave all the time
And on top of the time penalty you also get your endorsement level punished, idk how but it gets punished too
I love that people really don’t want new players to come to “their” game. People need somewhere to play and learn. Quick play is that place.
If you are so annoyed by that, that you leave enough to be penalised. Play ranked. Or set up PUGs with your friends.
Ranked game btw:

(add “https” at the begining, apparently you cant post links or images here)
You cant leave yourself otherwise you eat a penalty yourself, so I said f* it lets win this XD.
some feedback from me on this “senseless suspension in quick play”: Lately I’ve been having some connection problems at my house, and I happen to disconnect at least 1-2 times a day during gameplay. and I only play quick play. So I was banned? Well… no. No, zero temporary suspensions, zero bans “hey blizzy, I already have little time during the week, do you really want to punish me because I disconnected once in my little weekly free time?”… none of this.
Now I don’t know if there is a system in place to detect intentional exit from the game via the countdown that exists when you try to voluntarily exit matches or if they have implemented a system that reveals a disconnection (if you are wondering: NO , in comp it will never work because people could simply try to exit the match by disconnecting their home internet connection)… but the game is certainly not punishing me in the slightest for 100% accidental and unplanned disconnections.
So here’s what I think:
- do I want to play team multiplayer? I have to accept the fact that I am dedicating my shared time with people who are 100% unknown to me, which could lead to a negative outcome if I am unable to coordinate with them. otherwise I would go to a discord group of people more familiar to me who coincide with my schedule.
- it doesn’t make sense that I get a failed leaving in the first round (or even push), and since there are these type of leaving penalties in quick there are fewer and fewer of these “cowards for defeating on the screen”.
- regardless of whether they have increased or decreased, trolls and AFKs were reportable before as now, and by reporting them I can only have a better chance of not seeing them again in the future.
- Are there still inexperienced players on my team or on the enemy team? it’s a problem with Blizzad on its initial learning path for newbies, I can’t seriously blame them for having quick play as the player vs players basis before comp mode.
- If I get banned… I’ve probably intentionally abandoned matches a few too many times, too often during my “too precious free time”, as some call it. It’s not by playing just to have a victory on the screen that multiplayer video games work, let’s face it.
I would rather recommend to blizzard to combine this system with three priorities to fix:
- Avoidable player lists increased from a quick play point of view. we are in a f2p online multiplayer, it makes no sense to have ONLY 3 avoidable players every week regardless of whether arcade, quicker or comp players. sometimes someone talks way too much, and if I can’t legitimately point it out, I just don’t have the right feeling to put up with that player again in the future. 15 playerts? 30 Players? how many? surely NOT only 3 for weeks!
- As noted before, engage in trianing new players as early as possible. The hero skill info sheets are too rough and impossible to study in vs AI modes, and it’s stupid that an amateur wiki is more accurate than the game itself.
- Return the create a group feature. it was quite convenient for creating new habitual friendships between users even in quick play.
i can highly recommend solo rpg’s as those couldn’t care any less if you sit there afk for 5min or 12 hours.
but i wouldn’t really recommmend a team based arena shooter that has time based matches.
palworld as example doesn’t care if you walk away from your pc for 2h after joining the world.
overwatch kinda needs you to stick through 10mins in one go.
It’s a joke! How about stop putting me in games half way through where you are getting rolled! it’s not fun!
It’s great when you joint a game just before your team wins it for you though
