Overwatch 2 quickplay suspension

Getting suspended from quickplay, absolutely heartbreaking for us with no money and old pc’s that tend to shut off randomly, please fix it, quickplay is not all that serious.

Well the Devs increasing the penalties might say otherwise.

Time to switch to arcade to goof around I guess

Its a better penalty than the xp penalty wich didnt do anything. It wasnt fun when people constantly left trough a single match. And the resulting only getting put into backfill games wasnt fun either.

But come on blizz this is a bit too much. Getting a 30 minute suspension for every single time you leave? I could understand it if it starts with a 5 minute suspension and it goes up the more you leave .

But an instant 30 minute for a single time of leaving is alot. Especially since we have no control on what map/mode we queue up for and we still can get put into backfill games wich isnt fun either.

Its fitting for competative atleast since leaving there harms other peoples scores, but the quickplay punishment should built up from a reasonable amount of time.

This shouldn’t be happening. According to the patch notes, the rules are as follows:

UNRANKED LEAVER PENALTIES

  • 75% XP penalty removed.
  • The penalty thresholds have not changed, but the mechanics have also never been completely explained. The last 20 games played a player participated in are recorded. Leaving four of these 20 games activates the first penalty threshold. Leaving six of these 20 games activates the second penalty threshold.
  • Queuing for most game modes is now suspended when a player leaves a match inside a penalty threshold.
  • Players that reach the first penalty threshold will be suspended for 10 minutes.
  • Players that reach the second penalty threshold will be suspended for 30 minutes.
  • The queue suspension will reapply each time a player leaves a game when they are above the first penalty threshold but not when they complete their games.
  • Consecutive Match XP bonus has been renamed to Endurance Bonus.
  • Endurance Bonus is XP granted when finishing matches without leaving the previous match.

so clearly, something is either wrong, or you leave games quite often, if you are on the second threshold.

Well i got 30 minutes on the first time i left when this new system got implemented. And i dont think the last 20 matches before that i left that much either. But i would assume this gets reset with the new season and system anyway.

But yeah before that i left alot of games because 9/10 were backfill.

If youre leaving THAT many games to warrant a suspension you deserve it unfortunately. I sometimes get 1 day of a week to play for a couple of hours and when people are consistently leaving in qp it makes it a miserable experience.

Blizzard just have a big ego and want you to play the game their way.

hey man my time is valuable as well. i dont want to enter into a certain loss wich is halfway trough. im playing trying to play a game not half a game.

If people ask me to play monopoly and then when i come over and sit down and the game already is halfway done and i only got there to take someones spot who ragequit because he wa slosing. then ofcourse im not going to do that.

I’m notqueueing up to get half a game where my team is going to get steamrolled and i cant do anything to salvage is.

My point is the punishment history should have been reset when the punishment system changed. because people will leave less with the new punishment. But i still end up getting punishment for getting backfilled into backfill games eternally. Wich existed because other people left a game they did start properly at the start

You’ve COMPLETELY missed what OP said.

No i didnt. Just saying the changes to the punishment system are terrible.

there is no built up just a instant 30 minute ban.

There is not any kind of thought put into the changes compared to people who got effed by the matchmaking system, internet problems. Or even like mentioned in another topic, even if the servers are instabile on blizzes side you still get punished

They have implemented it because their game is dying and leavers are highlighting how few players there are. Ranks are being merged in matchmaking and the wait times for back-fill, even in QP, is ever increasing.

The insta 30 min suspension was a bug that has been fixed for at least some people. So now it is the 10 minutes after 4 leaves and 30 after 6.

This only counts the latest 20 games.

Wow as an adult I used quickplay when I am short on time and I know I may have to step out. Guess that is not an option anymore. I really need to find other games to play.

The system counts your last 20 games, and you will only be penalized if you leave more than 4 of those.

If you have even 10 games in between two times you must leave, you will never receive penalties.

No penalty for leaving QP should happen. It’s ridiculous how you get punished for leaving QP, a game mode designed for QUICK GAMES, where you don’t have much time left on the game before work or what not. They need to SCRAP penalties for QP.

That’s how it should be.

Good call tbh. Punishing people for that is so bad.

Sadly I’ve always known Blizzard was a terrible company, but suspending people for leaving the new mode they created is absurd. The only time I leave a game is at the beginning when it’s those win 3 points mission that take forever, other than that I always power through and stay on a match, no matter how unbalanced or how many people quite, and yet due to this new game mode I’m getting suspended on a daily basis. They should either allow players on quick play to avoid this new game mode or just remove these suspensions entirely.

I don’t play quickplay, but the option to make it so people can’t just leave is stupid. This is casual mode, which they’re now turning it to be more competitive. They then converted competitive to be more casual by hiding ranks/profiles/hiding SR, making it so we have to do placements rather than get instant feedback.

You can tell that the developers have never played an online game before joining Overwatch with the decisions they have been making.

Now they’re backtracking on some of the competitive changes they’ve made. Clueless!

Agree. But people also moaned a lot about backfilling and people leaving in general. The penalties are very minor though. You can only get a time penalty if you leave repeatedly. At that point you are impacting multiple games and probably need to take a break.

Apex gives you a 10 minute suspension every time you leave a casual game. So Overwatch is pretty soft on people.

No they’re not Smallwipe.

Leaving repeatedly overtime… You get punished nonetheless. And it should not happen.

At least it’s not a permanent ban, just a time-out
