Like Jason says in the article, anything can change but it sounds like a realistic thing to see OW 2, a clean slate to bring old and new players alike is probably the best move for Blizzard at this point. Hopefully it doesn’t mean they’re giving up on OW in the meantime.

if it means they stop updating overwatch, no

if it means that overwatch 2 further kills overwatch 1, no

if it means they make it a pay to win and completely change the layout of the game i love, no

but,

if it adds to the og overwatch, continuing its storyline but in one improving all the thousands of issues with overwatch (whilst keeping the heroes and regularly updating to add more), yes

Overwatch 2 is back on track or just speculations like the once back in late 2017?
That explains why all fks about this game are gone.
0 balance, 0 report system, 0 events.
Tbh if they don’t bring out OW2 ill be offended because idk if anyone noticed but we went a long time without any balance changes…

Oh an i just hope OW2 at lest have stuff like role number balance and not just 6-7 op supports 6-7 op tanks and then 16 jokes dps heroes and 2 good once.
I hope it has a real solo que and not fighting 6 stacks in gm non stop.
I hope it has role que as well.
Might as well make it with a real report system.

Soo, we won’t get a SC based shooter, in favor of loot-box-bonanza type of games?
Can’t say I’m shocked, just very disappointed. Overwatch is still a very new game, especially by the Blizzard standards. Instead of fixing the game and stopping the player hemorrhage, they are going to make us buy a second game, with more loot-boxes and all kind of shiny stuff, made for magpies. Mmm…No.
As for the “Don’t you guys have phones” 4…we will see. Not gonna hype myself for this. Who knows, maybe we can play it on our fridges and toilets, not only mobile.

if they do make an overwatch2 then i hope its a dedicated singleplayer experience because i dont see a point in recreating a multiplayer experience from scratch… that just seams stupid…

However i would love a single player game that was story driven i think… that would be an instant buy!

Even if it was mostly an asset flip from the regular game hell that would just make it better if the two games where linked… like maybe you could not change skins the first play through but change every chracters skin to ones you had unlocked after finishing the game for the first time or something :stuck_out_tongue:

Single player would make a crap ton of sense since that would allow them to put the resources and do the changes needed to make it a proper experience like having longer maps and stuff like that…

Also they could totally reuse that works and later put it into the multiplayer one…
They could then make expansions which the lore hungry people would eat up…

What is the point of Overwatch 2?

Overwatch is only 3 years old, for the time of game it is that’s not a lot of time.

I feel like the only reason they’d be making a sequel is because Activision doesn’t understand that games don’t have to pump out sequels every year.

Huh, I thought its gonna be a different game using the same universe like WoW -> Hearthstone. Revealing Overwatch 2 would completely kill the first one, are they really that dumb to do that?

"gameplay consists of running around a bland world shooting bitcoins at bots, bots then drop loot boxes which cost 0.50 to open and every bot drops 1… you get parts of a skin in each lootbox but you have to collect each part of the skin before you can wear it or just pay 50.00 to unlock it outright

This is so lazy. The game is still fairly new and already they talking about a second? I think they could update the base game, but I feel like they don’t want to put the work in because revamping the game would be so drastic and cause everyone to hate it. So just add a 2 to the title and boom, “New” game. They will have to knock this game out of the park for me to get even consider to want to buy a second one.

Also why would anyone want to trust Blizzard when the first Overwatch lacks polish. Overwatch could be a great game, but they don’t care enough to go above and beyond what the game could be. Wasted opportunities if you ask me.

I’m confused at why we need an OW 2… The current OW should have plenty of life in it. I wouldn’t be buying OW2 at least until I feel Blizzard has delivered the game experience I expected of OW. (Read: matchmaking issues etc)

Considering how disappointed I have been on OW for a year I am extremely unlikely to invest in further Blizzard projects until the situation with OW improves.

I really don’t understand you guys, some of you spend their entire time on the forums basically taking a dump on the game and when we know we might have an OW 2 that might correct what’s wrong with OW you’re not happy either…

I don’t see the point of Overwatch 2. Anything that they plan to do with it, they can do it with this version of Overwatch.

Only complete failures get this type of fresh start. Or the game is so broken they are forced to do it like in division.

With how OWL functions and much more, proving to be a decent succes and the game still generating revenue. I just do not understand a “New game”, i feel like it has to be either as some have said mobile or like an expansion in WoW, that adds so much content, but at the expense of having to buy it.

Really disappointed by Overwatch 2 rumors. I expected Overwatch to receive really long support, will not happen if they commit to OW2 instead. If it’s just a name for PVE update for Overwatch, I didn’t buy it for PVE and I don’t think the engine handles PVE content well.

Honestly, with their recent track record, I simply don’t have faith in current Activision-owned, founders-abandoned Blizzard anymore. I don’t want F2P Fortnitewatch 2 with battle passes and seasons-exclusive skins. I think the best they can do is to maintain the games already made.

that is why i think its a single player or co-op game with a campaign.

then they can reuse assets but do more things with the engine that would get in the way of competative play…

you would balance heros diffrently for single player/ pve co-op over competative single player.

another competative multiplayer game would be stupid that i agree fully with…

it would just split the comunity between those who wanna play the old game and the new.

that just makes no sense at all
