Every time I launch the game, it starts with a black screen and then it instantly crashes to desktop and the Blizzard Error window pops up saying “The application encountered an unexpected error”.

I’ve tried the majority of the troubleshooting steps.
Computer is fairly new (Dec 2020) and only started experiencing this problem today.
I have updated to the latest video drivers.
I re-downloaded the game and did a fresh install - didn’t help.

Been having the same issue, started today. I believe it was a windows update that caused the issue, though i am not certain which one. I did a system restore to 7/6/21 and it fixed the issue, won’t be updating windows for a little bit.
I was thinking myself that it was a possible Windows update issue. I checked out the Reliability Monitor in Windows 10 and I had 5 successful updates yesterday.

Did a quick Google search. It apparently runs multiple processes called “NahimicService”.
I stopped them all and the game runs perfectly fine now.
Ok now that i think about it i do recall my sonic studio updating, which i found odd, so this may only affect people with motherboards that have that.
Yeah, I’ve just gone and uninstalled Sonic Studio. I never use it anyway.
