Overwatch - loosing quality each day

Sadly, i tried to open a ticket for support about a problem…

i just bought 2 skips in the end of season 10 to reach the end of my premium battle pass (like last 5 mins)
suddently, when i did it, the overwatch coins was subtracted but the skips didnt happen
5 mins later when the seasson 11 starts they gave me those skips in seasson 11 (that i dont have premium)

so, i opened an support ticket and the response was “the seasson started 2 days ago so we cant refund your purschase”

i reopen the ticket but im feeling sad about blizzard support overall the quality of service is getting worst and worst each day (in every game i got the same experiance on WoW)

i think blizzard are trying to move their community to other games…

even on start this season, you cant end the 1st week achive if you did the weekly events on seasson 10…

i think i will try the other “hero shooter” because of those things

That doesn’t even make any sense.

I think it just comes down to human beings making decisions that turn out not to good ideas in hindsight. That’s pretty much it.

And whilst I agree quality is constantly dropping, everyone needs to take responsibility for that including us players. The game is still streets ahead of anything else out there sadly.

The upcoming hero shoot that might be quite popular initially for example might be interesting to see how quickly that fades away

They do need to tighten their quality. Let’s hope!

I have been playing the game as a casual since day 1. I do have ALL Blizzard games in my library, I have played all of their new games since day 1 if it is in my era, I am not old as much to play their arcade games, Warcraft 1 and Diablo 1 on day 1 but I was there for Diablo 2 and others. Same with RTS Warcrafts and World of Warcraft, Starcraft franchise bla bla. My point is, that I am witnessing most of their journey both the company and its products.

It is so easy and undeniable to say their quality has been going down since then, like a roller coaster ride. But of course, it is hard to maintain the same quality for all companies around. How many companies managed to maintain their quality at the same level? It is sad to see that my favorite gaming company bleeding and fading away but I think it is inevitable. It sadly started to happen after Activision acquisition. He who shall not be named ruined this company’s culture, and it was like Genghis Khan, he did not stop ruining it, he erased everything. Morhaime himself, Kaplan, Brode, and many others…

It’s all the same for OW. OW was a pretty good attempt to bring a new soul to shooter games and I remember it was hyped AF but greed of the who shall not be named was poison. OW2 is another story, the mismanagement of it because of the same person… That guy was a Grimm for the gaming community and sadly he also owned Blizzard once.

I’ve said it in another topic and I will say it again. OW is probably -after Heroes of the Storm- the least profitable product at the moment, in Blizzard’s portfolio, and considering the lay-offs even after the MS acquisition, I wouldn’t expect anything to improve OW. Probably they will suck the most of it and slowly let it die. It is my foresight. The same applies to WoW, people are expecting a new WoW, with a new engine, etc. No, it is not gonna happen. It looks like Microsoft has other plans for the company but not in the direction of fans would desire.

The quality of the game is also pretty bad. There is no balance, people are either so toxic and throwing games or unimaginably good. It is just a lottery… I have played 1 placement match today, I was just wondering about the situation of the Ranked gameplay as I do not play Ranked normally… Dude, I have never seen a sh ithole like this before. Tank kept diving in solo, dying, and then blaming low damage (like how we were supposed to survive without a tank protecting us) and low healing. He was right about the healing tho, Kiriko was on 4k healing but Baptiste was on “0”, literally “0”. The only thing he did the whole game was throw out his immunity shield, that’s all. He ended the game with 1.2k healing…

QP is no different. In 1 game you have good teammates, 9 games of people who make you wanna hit the monitor so hard. “It’s only QP maaate” kind of throwers are always in the game. It doesn’t even matter if they are in my team or the enemy because it lowers the quality of the game.

I don’t know how many people I have reported for sabotaging the gameplay but so far, after all these years, I have received 0 feedback for their punishments. I don’t think they are being monitored or punished at all. It is just there as a placebo.

Overwatch is destined to die slowly and it is exactly what is happening. So many streamers, and friends have left the game already and it will only get worse from here, not good. Why am I still here? As I said, I am not a grinder myself. I do not care about rank in OW because it is utter BS, even though I do play ranked in Valorant, CS, or PUBG. I am just playing QP and it is still a little fun to log in, a couple of pew pews, and then log off. Until the day they will shut the doors, I will be occasionally doing it I believe.

That’s the same with any game though. Over time people lose interest or find other things to do.

The gaming industry, in terms of available players, isn’t growing. And hasn’t grown for 15ish years. So there is only a finite market for this game.

There hasn’t been any significant increase or decrease in OW2 players in the best part of 18 months now. That would suggest it has it’s core base, and without significant changes that probably won’t see any noticeable change up or down for awhile.

The perceived drop in quality over the last year or 2 seems to have had very little impact on that.

Most of the streamers have just moved to more variety. They are still dropping into the game and buying the content because playing OW2 will still bring their biggest viewer numbers. So from a business perspective, I doubt Blizzard are that bothered with them doing other things (in fact it is better for the streamers brands and mental health to mix it up from time to time).

There would need to be a vocal and visible boycott from streamers and their communities for them to have an impact.

The probably OW content creators have, is most are devoid of any real personality, so if they do something, no one’s likely to notice on the bigger market.

yes, but that’s not the only factor if you keep your quality above a certain level, then it will be as high as it is supposed to be. CS 1.6 did not lose a lot of its community during the transition, actually, the did grow the numbers because 1.6 was a huge success. Can we say the same for CS 2? No, because its community did not like the changes, did not enjoy the bugs, new systems, etc.

Also, Blizzard is not as open as Valve/Steam on sharing its “shareable” data like how many active players, how many monthly players, concurrent players, and others… There is no way to know if it is growing or shrinking but you can somehow understand from the queue times, streamers, and people talking about the game on social media…

Maybe it is stalling as you say but stalling is also not a good sign and points out my prediction.

This is just so optimistic. Checking out the stream platform numbers for FPS games, OW is just not even near any of its competitions. Should it be? That can be discussed of course, but it is exactly not about variety, they have just left because it does not have a strong market anymore. Maybe they are still playing off the stream but most of them are maining other games. It has its niche community and viewer possibility but growing over OW is not possible.

Outside of big pro events and sometimes big drop events. It always has.

Sadly OW isn’t he best game for watching. Too much going on, too much screen clutter. Add to that a rather tepid community of streamers and you’ll always have low numbers in comparison.

It seems you have to be a certain type to get massive audiences on twitch (hyperactive, low intelligence, constantly saying dumb things, predatory). While there have been ow streamers ticking some of the boxes (mostly the last one), none have had the personality to drag the game on to the mainstream.
