OW seems to throw you in games at multiple different servers that have different ping on them. This affects aiming at least with heroes that need tracking aim. It is very different if you have 17ms ping or 50ms ping. I noticed that for example when playing s76 I struggled at some games and was sure I should hit my shots. Then started tracking the ping and it’s obvious that I struggle at the servers with 43ms or 50ms ping. Most of my games in the evening time are on 17ms server and that is “the base” for my gameplay. Getting thrown to other servers messes things up.
The ping as a number is not the problem, I could get used to a steady 50ms but if the ping keeps changing between games then it’s a problem. Anyone else notice this?

It’s really annoying when you have clutch abilities that need precise timing as well.
Like mei’s ice wall and cube, moira’s fade, zen ult, kiriko zuzu etc.
While you know you pressed the button and the ability goes off, you still die.
I’ve never managed to save myself with kiriko’s suzu from a self destruct for example.
I time it right and it goes off without a hitch, my team lives but i die right next to my teammates.
Sigma’s ult as well.
I’ve figured it’s a ping issue, since i toss the suzu at my own feet and still die.
My ping is usually at 30ms, but despite being the same most of my games, the abilities have the described ping issues at times.

Yep ping differences can be completely stupid. i have had moments where a sigma killed me while i already walked behind a wall like 2 seconds ago and i was nowhere near the door anymore. And he still managed to kill me trough the other side of the wall.
If i still were close to the door i would just think its a hitbox issue. But this was just too impossible to be a hitbox issue
I thouhgt I was goin crazy! Like no one seems to have this feeling that it depends on what server you land on. Thank you!
I have usually 37ms and then i get like 50-60ms in another game but its going up and down, it feels like 250ms some times or more but it doesn’t show high ms. I had to stop playing competitive. It’s just such a big risk now. In Quickplay I did Eichenwalde and the big door at the end of the castle was never removed for me my ms never went over 90 but some times I just experianced you know real heavy lag. Like a bastion was inside one room, moving out of it and then suddenly back into it (teleport lag). Zarya was inside the wall killing me.
I did everything, flushing dns, restarting router. repairing overwatch but still it’s the same. Some games are fine, like no problem at all and the very next game this strange lag. The hardest part for me with this strange ping issue is that when i ult it seems to become worse.
Blizz doesn’t even talk about this issue. Like im so happy to see that it is a real issue. It’s just unplayable for competitive. Your team will hate you and no one will belive you.
