Same error here ! Tried all steps from deleting maps to re-installing game.
Same here… And it isnt the first time… Last time it fixed itself…
Hello everyone,
If you have the security software BullGuard installed, try completely uninstalling it. We’ve found some cases where the program was causing this error when trying to start Overwatch. Some users have reported that just deactivating the firewall lets them open the game without issues (and they’re able to reactivate the firewall once they’re inside the game without crashing).
Got feedback about the support I’m providing? Leave your comments here!
shutting off my Bullguard Anti-virus firewall is not an acceptable solution. Your malicious code did this. something in your latest patch last did this. it was working fine when the helloween thing started, but then there was a small patch on a Wednesday or Thursday or something like that and the game was like this. so something in the patch, some string of code or something is making Bullguard treat it like a virus/trojan.
So your solution is just to turn it off and back on every time I want to start the game? how about no?!
It is just this game mind you, just Overwatch. World of Warcraft starts up just fine, so the fault is on your end.
Consider that only BullGuard poses a problem, other security programs do not. I suggest that you report the problem to the manufacturer of the program.
The fault is unambiguously on BullGuard’s end. It is well known that unmodified versions of OW are trusted and (hopefully ) don’t have a trojan but BullGuard still treats it as suspicious or something similar. This isn’t an uncommon problem with security software that often use heuristics with false positive results.
googling the problem suggests that other virus programs have the same problem, such as Avast, which I did use before switching over to bullguard. Avast blocked games for people too. But surely, there has to be some other solution than to turn my virus program off, I really don’t want that.
The problem might be on Bullguard’s end, but don’t you find it strange that the game worked fine before the last update to Overwatch and afterwards Bullguard blocks it? it is also only overwatch, all my other games work fine.
Why do you find it strange that something has changed and it has consequences? Especially when antivirus is well known to use heuristic analysis that has a lot of false positives.
Fortunately I use my PC only for gaming, for this reason I use only the builtin firewall without any other specialised security software so I don’t anymore have these problems and slowdowns. I do everything else on my macbook.
