Since Overwatch 2 came out I and many many others suddenly can’t launch Overwatch anymore. It just says “Playing Now” in the blizzard launcher but the game definetely isn’t running. I got it to run one or two times but one of the two times the game opened about half an hour after initially pressing play.
When looking into the task manager, the game doesn’t even show up, not in the process bar either. To find the process you have to go to the “Details” section of the task manager, there you’ll find the “Overwatch” process.
That’s odd because usually it is visible in the regular “processes” or the simple “Tasks” tab.
Launching the .exe’s in the Overwatch directory doesn’t work either. Scan & repair also doesn’t work. I couldn’t try reinstalling yet, because of how slow my internet is, but I’ve moved the installation folders multiple times without success, cleared all battle.net folders in C:\Users<username>\AppData\local and […]\roaming. I also reinstalled battle.net multiple times and online people with the same issue have said the reinstalling the game didn’t work for them.
The very odd thing here is that before the update from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2 came out my game was fully patched and launched as intented. Now the game just won’t open and I’m so frustrated that this hasn’t even been adressed as a known issue by Blizzard despite how many many reports I see online of the same issue.
So I thought I should definetely make a forum post about this to raise awareness about this keeping many from even opening the game. If anyone reading this had this issue and found a fix that I haven’t listed here then please spill the beans.
Blizzard, you have to recognize that this is an issue that was introduced with the update from the previously working Overwatch 1 version to Overwatch 2. This is a widespread problem that keeps me and other long-time players from playing the game completely!
