high diamond low master player here back in Overwatch 1… Was looking forward to this game as a hitscan player cause less shield more head clicking! yay…
First few days i had a lot of fun (when we could play cause nice launch lol…)
So i did my placements and ended up in silver, ok wow that’s low but whatever, grinded away and as to be expected got to my old rank very fast…
As soon as i Hit Diamond its like all MMR is out the window. in my games i am getting silver/gold players one match, or the very next match i am getting GM/top500 players…
I am Diamond player as i said both in OW1 and 2, How is this possible?
I have not had a single game with other diamond players or people my skill rating… NOT ONE.
It is not fun for anyone in the lobby and its very unfair, Low ranked players don’t want to be overwhelmed by much, much higher ranked players… and the Higher ranked players don’t want to play with people who are multiple ranks lower…
It is the opposite of fun and the worst competitive experience i have ever had in any game. It’s like there is no skill rating at all, it’s literally quick play.
Already de-ranked 3 tiers because I’m getting put in lobbies i shouldn’t be in/ players getting put in my lobbies they shouldn’t be in, every single match.

Given that your ranking progression is almost entirely down to your performance and not match results. It doesn’t matter too much who’s in the lobby.
The game clearly thinks you’re underperforming, and that your badged rank doesn’t like up with your MMR somehow. Thus plonks you in what you perceive to be lower lobbies.

i don’t know how you can sit there and defend the system, lol.
i don’t see how i can be underperforming, i play hitscan i am top 0.5% aim in the world from aim benchmarks in aim groups. i am always last person dying, getting first picks before fights even start, getting multiple picks every fight. communicating well. positioned well.
The only way i am underperforming is in my attitude not my gameplay, since the game gives me bots.
Note in original post i said “this account” I have a lot of others in gm etc. i can guarantee you i do not underperform on a diamond masters account.
Stop trying to defend such a bad, broken MMR system that clearly needs to be fixed ASAP.
In no other game can silvers be in lobby’s with diamonds, golds be in lobby’s with masters, Diamonds be in lobby with Grandmasters…
Absolutely broken and makes no sense.

Where am I defending it. It is what it is and it does what it does.
I don’t really care either way, I enjoy playing ranked because it’s more fun. I don’t care what rank I am or how it figures that out.
Under or over performance is relative, I was the lowest ranked player by a good margin in my games last night, but I was out performing their numbers and I jumped 4 divisions when I got the 7 wins. I’d suggest someone VOD reviews to figure out if you’re doing enough.
i saw you write on another post you are gold/plat player, nothing wrong with that if that’s where your at it’s where your at, and it’s great your having fun.
But at that range you don’t understand what it’s like being in higher MMR games and to get silver and gold players on your team when they shouldn’t be there, you expect more from them, you expect them to know when to contest and press W instead of S at the sight of an enemy, who to nano, who to focus, stop the enemy revives, and they just don’t because they are too low to understand and too slow to react.
No offense intended, just facts.

which is the whole point of the post ranked is busted. if you think how it works currently is fine then you are wrong and have no clue…
go climb 2 or 3 ranks and get a bunch of silvers, golds and plats in your games, come back and tell me those games are fun…
whole purpose of the post is that rank means nothing, MMR means nothing. When it should. its literally quick play as it is… which is garbage.

Literally played tank the other night, everyone on both teams was between Gold 1 and Plat 2.
I was Silver 1.
This is because our MMRs are close, the ranked badge doesn’t mean anything at that point. Unsurprisingly when I got my 7 wins I jumped to Gold 3, and I would suspect when I play more and get another 7, I will probably go straights to Gold1/Plat 5
MMR literally means everything. As does what we used to call SR, but we just don’t see it now.
Its definatly not based on individual performance.
Stuck in bronze with high objective time and a decent kd spread and damage average. The matchmaking is horrendous its roll or get rolled and despite how well u do if u go on a losing streak your getting downgraded.
Its a complete joke and i no diamond players still stuck in bronze now because of it
and now that smurfs are back its just not fun anymore

Diamond and masters is not the same as silver or gold or plat. its a different game, you don’t understand cause you never been there…
MMR on all of my accounts except main is way higher than my rank, my accounts in diamond, masters, gm were always in smurf queue with other smurfs who are the same.
MMR is match made rating, you should be put in lobbies with other people of the same rating, do you understand???
there are top 500 players in bronze lobbies etc with brand new players, your sitting here telling me MMR is working?
you should stop talking nonsense on forums and play the game. you are literally the only person who thinks it’s working.
GM1 players are always in diamond lobbies, ow1 top 500 players are always in plat lobbies… yeah MMR totally fine guys, working as intended…

You seem to think the rank matters lol. It works the same for everyone. It is a better indication of your actual place in the world.
Take Flats for example (as he explained in his video). He placed in Diamond 1. When he queued he was still getting OWL players in basically every game, because despite his rank, the game for matchmaking has him as a 4400 ish player.
So when you check peoples profiles, those badges don’t really mean much.
im checking their ow1 ranks my guy, that is their rating.
watch hybrid for example, top 500 often Rank 1 dps EU and i think NA. ex London Spitfire owl player…
half the time he is in diamond lobbies.
Ok. There is your mistake. You can’t see their MMR, so even know the old SR is irrelevant.

He’s actually been solo queuing mostly the last few days to get to GM1 though.
