OW2 PVE Replayability needs to be great

(Originally made this on the US forums and forgot to make it on the EU)

TL:DR - Add alternate scenarios, routes and different stuff for difficulties
Blizzard, if you want OW2 PVE to do really well and succeed, you need to make it great, you need to give it a reason for replayability.

Current Overwatch’s PVE can be fun for the first couple of times, but can get stale over time, and thats because it is the same thing over and over again.

  • Get from Point A to B
  • Same enemies
  • Same Route
  • Same everything

I want OW2 PVE to succeed, I really do, so here are some ideas I have to give OW2 PVE a reason for replayability.

Alternative Scenarios
Don’t just have one playable scenario for a mission, have different scenarios, let us experience the point of view of other groups.

The Rio De Janeiro Mission is a perfect example of how this can be done.
You can have the original scenario where we play the mission in the viewpoints of Tracer, Reinhardt, Mei and Lucio. However, there should be an alternate scenario where we play as Winston, Brigitte, Mercy and Genji, so we can see what they were up to.

Alternative scenarios help expand the story heavily, it also helps fill out plot-holes in the story, plus we get to experience what those characters are doing, it could even be a different mission for them.

  • Tracer, Lucio, Mei, Reinhardt: Get to Null Sector ship.
  • Winston, Mercy, Brigitte, Genji: Defend a specific area till all the civilians are evacuated.

Alternate Routes
Alternative routes are also a great way to add replayability to the PVE, to make that mission feel different every time we play it.

For example, let’s say in one mission you have three paths, each with their own enemies and challenges, players can either choose them at will or they can be completely random.
This adds to the replayability as players will have a different experience each time.

Enemy A.I. and Difficulty
Enemies are also a way to do replayability, some areas can have the enemies, but don’t always do it for every area.
Spice it up a little and add a new enemy to the mix at random.

Also in terms of difficulty, don’t just increase the amount of damage the enemy does, do things that make that harder difficulty HARDER.

  • Add new abilities or enemies that are exclusive to that difficulty.

CONCLUSION
I want Overwatch 2 to be great, and I think by following through this, I think it will help with the replayability issue and get lots of people to enjoy it.
I hope you take your time reading this and take my advice to heart.

Also to the community, I want to know your thoughts on how we can make the replayability part of OW2 PVE great.

What are your thoughts?

A different kind of monetization. Don’t force ppl to buy the entirety of this patch, make pve maps and heroes missions/stuff buyable separately so that ppl can choose which to buy and which not.

Someone mentioned something about that on the US forums where I originally made the post, mostly they suggested on making the PVE episodic as it would allow better development and allows the story to flesh out more.

The thing is I’m completely against considering “Overwatch 2” an actual different game as what it really is is a major content patch. It would be like charging money in order to buy AQ20/40 in WoW Classic.

With the way I proposed BlizzVision can still make tons of money (whales will be whales) and also take a bit of money from ppl like me who would be interested in only a fraction of the released stuff and would never buy the full thing.

Or alternatively, why not both?

Why not make it so that you can choose to buy it separate, or buy the whole thing altogether?
Satisfies both customers, the ones who prefer to choose, and the ones who want everything.
