Owerwatch uninstalled itself..... Great

Let me start of by saying that i NEVER use game forums, but right now i’m just stunned and honestly dissapointed.

I’ve been playing overwatch frequently for the past year or so up until about two months ago when, sadly, my single-mother died and i was forced to move to new apartment , therefor I hadn’t been playing since the before release of Baptiste.

Now that i’ve finally gotten some time off work, me and a couple of my friends decided i’d be fun to jump back in to the game but to my dismay when i open the BattleNet app i get the “Install” option instead.

I start think to myself “maybe it just has trouble finding the folder” since most of my games is downloaded on my 1.81 TB (E:) drive. Overwatch is usually right below my Origin folder but now it’s just completely GONE. Scrubbed my entire computer but only a broken shortcut link could be found.

Normally this wouldn’t be a problem and i’d just reinstall the game again without thinking twice, but my “new” apartment does not have any form of internet so i have to share network via my phone that unfortunatly only has a 100 gigabyte data plan which has to last me the entire month. So downloading a 20-27gb game that i already had installed isn’t really a fun idea to me.

I just hope this issue will be fixed so it won’t happen to me or any other players in similar positions again.

(also, sorry if the personal stuff is a bit TMI. But like i said; I never use forums)

Hey JaqueHammer,

The game would not be able to uninstall itself suddenly, but I have seen other reports where the game was accidentally installed in a temporary folder. Have a look into the Blizzard Games Uninstall Every Time Computer Restarts support article, to try and prevent any further issues from taking place.

Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

Same issue here -_-"

I just installed an update for overwatch this morning, then i stopped playing. Finished playing Overwatch, I see an info about free to play for COD so I started to download COD:Warzone… While the download was still in progress, I wanted to go back playing overwatch, BUT suddenly it’s uninstalled… I need to re-installed and download everything from 0… Is this for real?

Hello putz

Give it a go at trying the steps given by Nenyasqi on the post above.
Hopefully this should fix the issue for you.

Yea I was playing Overwatch last night, went to get on today, and was hit with the same thing. Battlenet says install, I scrub both my hard drives, and it’s just gone.

Was playing the game and had to restart my computer because of internet problems to come back to the client and it say install… I tried the methods listed up top removing the battle.net folder and restarting with gpupdate but still would not show up. After checking a third time it found the file and I clicked update and it seems to be installing the game again?? Idk why this happened but I had no choice but to install again??

Despite the very unhelpful official Blizzard response “This is impossible so it didn’t happen, it was something on your end” it happened to me too. Though I do appreciate such suggestions as “try reinstalling”.

Same thing happened to me. The game just sepuku-ed and now I’m having to redownload it at a speed that is unusually slow (ie DAYS). It’s honestly infuriating and if I loose all my time and skins I will be irate. And no blizzard it’s GONE.
