PC reboots randomly Kernel-power 41 critical error

my computer will reset (not fully restart) randomly.

None of the fan lights turn off, the screen just turns black for a moment, then goes back into the POST and boots back into windows successfully.

The error given in the event viewer program states “Kernel-power 41 Critical error.”

I have already done the following to troubleshoot this :

  • Checked for overheats
  • Updated windows and drivers

You can try something from this link, its mostly power settings related, maybe your PSU is failing or similar.
It seems that problem is more often on Win 10, you didn’t mentioned what OS you use.

Yeah it turns out some stupid windows update re-enabled a setting where the hard drive would shut off after 20 minutes. Microsoft is just so dumb sometimes.

Thank you for sharing your findings with us here.

Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

Another discovery.

The actual reason this was happening was a combination of that strange hard drive setting and a broken driver for my CPU. Who would’ve guessed.

I have the same exact problem now and arrived at this kernel issue. What did you do to fix this?
