Perks Aggrevation

._. just had a match, accidently selected the wrong perk and ruined the whole match… and they wanna introduce swappable perks next season!? What are they doing the whole time?! I mean this Levelling System HAS TO GO! these Perks choice thingies interrupt the match experience and just add the aggrevation and that you’re stuck with the wrong choice by accident is just baffling that they didn’t address that…

I thought that if you swap the hero and swap back, you could reset the Perk Level and get to choose Perks again. But it doesn’t work like that… you’re stuck with your choices which goes against everything that Overwatch stood for.

Previously, The Decision Making in Overwatch was entirely Active Gameplay related, do I charge into the enemy? do I play with my team, do dive them alone? every choice was backed by Playerskill, not a choice for some passive or mid-match skill change…

I like the perks but I hate how they’re implemented. I think that’s my exact problem with perks.

The levelling I like. You got to earn that bonus.

But being able to swap, when in spawn, should be a thing.

I am sure I have seen them say they are considering it. But when I searched I saw this snippet that makes me think I imagined it…
“want players to feel like their perk choice is meaningful. They also want enemies and allies to know what to expect from a hero when they choose a perk.”

so you stomp harder or you get stomped even harder…
and if the choice of the perk is so meaningful, why do Perks pop up mid-fight where we busy, you know… fighting? I get that Perks are powerful and should have meaning but how meaningful can it be if you can ruin your match for pressing the wrong button? Hell! once I ran off the map because I was in the Perk Menu and had no Control over My Character!!..
The Unfairness about Perks is that some players get theirs sooner than others.

That kind of Unfairness that undermines the sport aspect of the game.
If people get to build their perk kits from the start, it would be fair again.
Since both Players/Teams run their setup and see which one comes out ontop.

I’m not hating on Perks! That Hanzo got his Scatter Arrow back is the reason a friend of mine plays Overwatch again! I just hate the distraction and unfairness that the Levelling System causes. If they want to keep that UI Element, they should rework it to the On-Fire Bar, like it was in OW1

The Thing, that you earn in Overwatch is the Victory or Defeat (or a Draw in some cases).
Overwatch 1 had the Portrait Border Account Levelling Progression.
That’s the Levelling I liked.

That is overwatch at its core. Even with out perks you’re supposed to be using your abilities to stomp your enemy.

Not sure what’s unfair. If we get it slower it’s because we’re having less impact. Step up or get rolled.

(Not that perks are that game changing. They are more just fun variations)

I dont mind the perks tbh just think you should always get to pick the perk not get them randomly like in mystery heroes

yupp, and Perks are just another Layer put ontop of that. Given, with an added choice… though idk… the “Choice” of Perks really is like a Skill Build in an MMO, basicly an illusion because there will always be that right choice about what Perk to pick.

Again, the Unfair Part about Perks is that some get their Perks sooner causing another uphill battle added to the Fights. It would be Fair if we all start with both Perks already selected. That way everyone can roll out with their chosen Build to enjoy the entire match without distracting UI Elements.

well they’re fixed, the only random Part about Perks is that they pop up relatively randomly mid-fight. Or do you want to pre-select them and only have to lvl up to activate them? That would be better than what we have now also^^

It’s one of the good things about OW.

Nothing is forced. They don’t try to artificially stop stomps. If a team doesn’t regroup and think on their feet. They’re done for.

though that wouldn’t change if we could select them in the Spawn ^^
