Play of the game changes

This can’t be just me. Around the mid point of Overwatch 2 it seems like they changed the play of the game system. It used to go to those who actually had a good play. Now it favors thos who do little, i suppose it is to make newer players happy? It has just started to annoy me personally a lot. I get a really cool team kill on my own and the Potg goes to a random person who gets two kills. I have noticed this now on most Potg i see, it’s always the two kills. Two kills is what matters to get potg now. Sometimes you still see bigger plays too but it seems to most of the time pick the one that has exactly two kills. It is very strange, they have changed a lot of things ever since the game turned into Overwatch 2 but many of these changes have felt very offputting. I personally play mainly for the Potg these days so it feels very disappointing to not get it when i do a lot of work for it.

I play to win, which is kind of what the game is all about. It’s a team based game after all. :rofl:

On a more serious note, i do agree that the POTG system is stupid in many ways. Seeing a Moira get one kill near the point, then chases another player to get a kill 5 sec later and not even an actual double kill get a POTG over my 4K or literal team-kill during an ult, is just stupid.

POTG has always been random but it feels far more random now than ever before. Might be to give new players a sense of accomplishment or something, i don’t know. Just feels stupid in many ways, rewarding bad plays over actual 900IQ plays.

I wonder if something may have changed recently I don’t think I ever saw anything.

For the POTG is not only the quantity of kills that can trigger it, the kills have somekind of value, it considers how much dmg you did, if you saved teammates by killing enemy, if you canceled the enemies ult etc… for exemple is possible that two solo kills that cancel enemies ults has more value than 4 kills that simply kills enemy low health.
