Player hacking and doxxing OW lobby

NEON#23314 is running around doing reverse dns/ip-to-location lookup of people in the lobby and posting their location in all chat (a mild form of doxxing). The information this person has gathered is solely based on playing Overwatch (and possibly participating in the in-game voice chat?). I had no previous contact with this person whatsoever, nor did I have him added on the friends list. I reckon this is a clear violation of Blizzard ToS, and expect to not see this player in the game again.

I’m actually surprised you somehow managed to leak lobby IP addressed due to the DoS risk, I thought this was against Blizzard policy or general best-practice in the gaming industry. At the same time I do understand the decision and would gladly participate in such a scheme, I don’t care if someone knows roughly where I live. However, other people might not be so glad about this, e.g. streamers.

If that is on console iirc it’s a weakness of the specific console network eg PSN or XBOX Network, not OW, and Blizzard can’t prevent it.
If it’s on PC however then gg.

It’s on PC =)

check mate blizzard, you spilled the beans on all your users
