Progression Level at Victory Pose Screen is demoralising for maining a hero

In the recent change, the victory pose screen now shows progression level instead of hero level, with the dev comment reading as follows:
‘The hero you end the match on isn’t necessarily representative of you as a player. This change is intended to better show off your overall progression.’

In principle this is fair, for a lot of players who switch between a multitude of heroes, the progression level is a more impactful representation of their time playing OW2.
However, Hero Progression is there for a reason, it’s there for you to show to yourself and to the community your love, dedication and commitment to playing a single hero. If it wasn’t, there wouldn’t be rewards, player titles, name cards and badges.

Last season I mained Rein, hit about 70 hours and the start of this season I hit level 50 and received my Green icon and my ‘Crusader’ Title. This change feels like it reverts a load of that progression. After each win, I’d get an extra hit of dopamine that said ‘we learning Rein, we committing to this hero, I have time under my belt’, that extra bit of motivation to get to 1000 hours on the hero.

Now, an amorphous, generic logo that I have no connection to.
If I played the whole match as that hero, show my level, or at least give me the option to decide what I’d like to show.

I think it feels better to see the general rank, instead of the decieving medal of “i’ve played this hero for 2 hours” instead of the “i’ve played this role for 200 hours”

The point is we should have the option.

I’m with OP. I main a character and worked especially hard to get the progress incremented on the medal. Now it feels worthless and pointless.
