[PTR-Feedback] 2-2-2

This system is good… the sentense "well if we need a (tank/healer) why dont you go (tank/healer) is gone… along with alot of the whine it brought

however it would be nice to be able to go beyond 2-2-2… is it posible to do something in the sorts of when you sign up as a class type you could also pick the setup you want to run 2-2-2, 3-3, 3-2-1 or 2-2-1-1

also if posible some sort of (this needs changing to deal with what we’re meeting during a match). I’m thinking some sort of quick Vote either to vote one specific person to change role (initiated by said person or whatever you figure out) or a vote to remove the setup lock (2-2-2)

Honestly if they don’t fully revert this patch and apologise no amount of future updates will fix the problem. Role lock does not work.

I don’t think they’ll do that. IMO one of the reasons they have done this is because of GOATS. (3 tank - 3 support). In the OL, everything is GOATS and people have stopped watching OL because of the repetitive comps. Using this, it’ll get rid of GOATS and people will be thinking of new comps to support 2-2-2. OL will be a lot more entertaining and people will watch it more

I see where you’re coming from, but how about instead of reverting it, just make it an option in the settings to disable it? At least then people who hate it can do their stupid 5 DPS comps, while people who support it won’t have to deal with moronic team mates with their stupid auto lock Genji BS.

It can’t be an option, because it would divide the players into essentially two separate games. That means longer wait times, and even bigger balance issues between the two modes. People aren’t against it because they want to play 6DPS, they’re against it because it doesn’t even solve the multi-dps problem AND it screws the entire game up trying.

How do you mean that it doesn’t solve the “multi-dps problem”? My games in the PTR only has 2 dps. It’s working as intended.

No it has 4 DPS, 2 actual DPS players, and 2 DPS players playing tank and support. They didn’t magically make half the playerbase disappear.

Oh, so you mean like a normal OW game using the current system?

I seriously don’t get how you seem to believe that, with this current system, the game will suddenly be overabundant with DPS mains throwing games as a DPS healer or tank. Even before 2-2-2 went to the PTR, you are stuck with this image in your head of evil DPS mains crawling out of the bushes, and nooks and crannies, to come and pick Healer/Tank just for the sole purpose of ruining your games. I really don’t see where you get this idea from.

Currently on the PTR, the queue times are really not that drastically different that people are actually prepared to throw a game just to get a faster queue, and if they are, then they would be throwing anyway, even without a 2-2-2 lock.

I mean, I know we’ve been going back and forth about this in several threads already, and we will just not agree about the subject, and I guess that’s fine. I do get it when it’s about the ability to flex and lesser possibilities in team composition, but about this “DPS mains will throw as healer/tank” I really don’t understand how it would be worse than what we have now.

Considering the playerbase seems to be very evenly divided between the issue, I don’t think the wait times will be that bad. I see so many people making good points about what’s good and bad about Role Lock and really, I think people would be happier if they were separated in comp.

But tbf the fact that it’s a part of QP as well seems like complete BS. Just…why?

I get that. That’s why I really hope the “classic QP” mode in Arcade will be a permanent, staple mode like Mystery Heroes is now, that doesn’t get rotated. But I do understand why they want to keep the regular QP ruleset as close to competitive as possible.

They did that when they introduced hero limits as well (and that’s also when the “No limits” mode was created, and I think even the entire Arcade mode if I’m not mistaken).

Direct experience… which you should try.

Check my last post if you want to know why I think people might throw.

the queue times are really not that drastically different

Tank queues instantly, DPS takes around 5 minutes.

I would rather they play an actual DPS, which they cannot do in this system.

Then you play a different PTR than I do, or you just have bad luck.

i don’t think the PTR is the right place to try this thing as it has way less players than normal. If blizzard really cared they would put it online ASAP and see how the REAL playerbase reacts. so far it’s just a lot of “oh, I played it and I liked it, it gave ME no problems at all so IT WORKS PERFECTLY”. until the mode goes live i’ll stand with my opinion:
USE IT IN RANKED AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM QUICKPLAY.

“Oh, I played it and I didn’t like it, it gave me problems, so it’s trash.” See what I did there?

I’m frankly growing tired of all the bickering about it, no one is going to able to convince the other side, no matter how much we repeat our arguments. There are now 5 or 6 different threads with the same people repeating the same arguments over and over again.

I guess a big change like this is bound to cause some controversy. But anyway, it’s here now.

that’s exactly why they need to take it out of the ptr and put it live. we won’t be able to settle this as long as a handful of people play it, we need to see the full playerbase at it and since the thing doesn’t appear to be bugged, they might as well as put it live now, not in the middle of the next month

I personally really dislike the idea, it kills all freedom in the game, I find it kinda ok for Overwatch league matches but not for QM and similar. And NO forcing players to go play arcade if they do not want 2-2-2 is not same as having it in simple QM. I had loads of matches where I was solo Reinhart as a tank for a team or where I would mid match switch from tank to healer to dps depending how team needed… This 2-2-2 kills any freedom for it and just “models” Overwatch QP toward pro games leagues (and I seen pro players also complaining on this change too)

what almost makes me laugh is that people complain about goats and yet don’t realize that a 2-2-2 will indeed remove it only to replace it with another comp that will prove to be the most effective.

Am only concerned about the queue times for qp.Maybe it is possible to have some kind of joined queues for qp where if you dont get a game within 2 minutes of 2-2-2 qp you get thrown into the larger pool of classical qp.Maybe have a message in there informing you that you swapped queues so that if people really want that 2-2-2 in qp can leave and queue again.

They don’t have to revert anything yet, it’s only on the PTR and they are determined about this patch so I doubt that they would be backing off.

If you watched the dev update from Jeff you know that there will be an open beta of the role queue in August on the main servers.

If one thing I would ask is to reduce the SR loss in case of a lost game. A 3 loss streak can take you down almost 100 SR. One bad night can derank you from gold to bronze easily.

that’s what i’m talking about, that beta should be opened now, not in august. the mode is not buggy and the sooner you see the reaction of the real playerbase the better.
Don’t forget that if this thing sticks they will have to change heroes like moira and brig to be used with only 2 healers, meaning they will be even stronger in the “arcade quickplay”, hence my fear of them keeping it for a month and then d eleting it altogether.
