QP and Arcade games with 300 ping on Europe server because full of Koreans

As title;

I don’t understand why this is happening. My OW is definately set to the “Europe” server on battle.net/the Blizzard app.

Recently, all my QP and Arcade games are just full of Korean players?!?!?!? My latency reaches 300?! Why are these people in my games? Why am I being matched with them? Why are Koreans on the Euro server? Is the game matching me with players on the Asia server? What the hell is going on?

I literally cannot play the game atm with 300 ping, it’s unplayable. Forget tanking or playing a hitscan dps. Impossible with that latency.

I quit Blizzard, this is completely ridiculous.

I wanted to post a screenie, but seemingly I can’t with posting it someone else and hyperlinking.

The region you pick on battlenet is irrelevant now.

You just get what ever server is best fit for the lobby you get matched in.

Should be the lowest ping option most of the time, but if you live somewhere a long way from a server you might just get random.

Pressing ctrl+shift+N will tell you what server you are on.

Just a tip that might help, maybe. Due to the way they are coded, if you are on high ping, play Pharah. She’s coding in such away that if it hits on your screen, it hits. Which gives you such an advantage in ping diff situations. (The worst to play would be doom in that situation for the opposite reason)

If the “region” I pick is irrelevant, why is there a selection at all?

Thanks kindly for your assistance Rod, but I am simply incredulous that this is a thing - there’s no servers now? Asian players are just let loose and allowed to join my games against me in the UK, causing me to play with 300 ping?

Completely untenable and unplayable.

If I’d bought this game recently I be furiously demanding a refund for an unusable product.

As it is I played it merryily since release and it’s only since very recently this absolute debacle has occured. Previously, if I played very late at night/early morning this sort of thing would occur, but that was understandable, and bearable.

This is not. It’s 7pm and I’m playing against people on the other side of the earth. Why Blizzard? That’s simply not a good idea for anyone concerned.

Good question. I suspect it will either disappear in time, or the globalisation will be reversed. Time will tell.

No no, the servers are still all the same.

In the past you would be Europe, and then as you get a match it will put you on 1 of the 3 European servers (Paris, Amsterdam, Bahrain).

Now, instead of just the 3 options, you can be on any server in the world, but 99% of the time you will be on the same servers as you was before.

It happened the same time as cross-play was released.

Further to my rant, I wish to say that today (and slightly later) yesterday, was not so bad, and was completely fine in COMPETITIVE.

Comp was fine.

QP/Arcade had this massive issue yesterday before 7pm, but I trust that was actually due to a bunch of Koreans all trying to get the week 2 Summer Games rewards before they timed out and the week 3 challenge hit.

This is my only current explanation, as today’s games are simply not as completely inundated with Koreans. Yesterday, I could not get in a game without them. Today, has almost returned to normal.

Maybe they are playing via a vpn and that’s why they are there, because the vpn is based in eu so they end up on eu servers?

If the OP is getting 300ms and Asian players. He will be on an Asian server.

If he presses ctrl+shift+N, it will tell him what server he is on.

I personally hope for the latter. there is no reason to take the option away from us in the first place, but lets be honest, its not just an overwatch thing so unless is negatively affected the other blizzard IPs then its not going anywhere.

I get that. I dont see that happening though.

I suspect it is here to stay, just being improved a bit along the way.
