This was already posted in the technical support forum, but the only answer we got from Blizzard was “great, cant do anything about that, post it in the general discussion Forum”. Well here I go.
I was going into queue, match was found, and instead of “loading game” it was “applying update”. The match was already found! What kind of update would be applied NOW?!
In the background on the upper half of the screen I could still see that I was placed into the match. But no matter how long I wait, the “applying update” thing doesnt go away, but the match found thing in the top did. So I closed the game with alt f4 and sure enough I had a 15 min penalty for the queue and probably lost points do to something that is clearly not mine, but Blizzards fault.
I saw several people commenting they had queues up to several hours and even got banned due to that bug.
The matchmaking is awful enough as it is, everyone including Blizzard knows that already, but now we got this out of control bug thing. Absolutely great.
I lost connection the other day and got a 24hour ban. My internet connection was fine as I was able to play a QP match straight away.
Now I get applying update bug and now im banned for the whole of season 4!
Blizzard saying they can’t lift suspensions and bans is total BS, they did it before when something similar happened.
Overwatch 2 Status Update - October 25, 2022
Fixed an issue that resulted in players receiving competitive mode penalties for leaving matches when the game crashed during launch. We have reset the leaver penalties on affected players so they can play ranked again
I am an hour suspended right now from ranked and i’m also scared it’s going to be even more if i keep trying top play and getting the same bug again… I really want a compensation with 2 divisions up or something.
Same here too. Now on my 3rd ban (8 hours) for the same reason, outside of my control. The game enters into a competitive match and the grey “applying update” screen appears and doesn’t close. No way to get out of the screen without closing OW2. Restart the game and informed that I’m banned. UNACCEPTABLE!
To work-around this issue, we recommend that players enter the training mode prior to queueing for any game mode, at the start of each session. Thank you for your patience and we’ll be sure to update the Known Issues list once this has been resolved.
