Queue wait times in OW2

Just purchased the ow2 beta today and pretty disappointing that majority of players are now using tank and dps role queues. At least in ow1 you could get a quick placement when selecting either tank or healing but its clear that ow2 is going to be saturated with people selecting only tank and dps which means 10 min wait times for both queues. Ow2 is going to be reduced to only being able to get a quick placement when playing healing alone. Think this highlights a flaw with the healing in the game as no one wants to play this role. Maybe blizzard should introduce 2 new healers to give a fresh feel to the role and help balance the roles that people are selecting.

i agree. theyve ruined tank queues. i dont like waiting 10 minutes to start a game.

?

No, there is a new tank. Of course queues for tank will be longer.

There is a “new” DPS. So queue times will be longer there.

Next beta support queues will be longer.

Season 2 of ranked, tank queues will start longer as there will be another new tank.

They’ve not “ruined” anything. We the players have by all wanting to try the new shiny things.

You’ve just proven my point that the game needs new healers as the majority of people are sheep and only want to pick new heroes cause they’re super close minded. The blizzard devs are either to stupid to think of a new format for a healer or they just dont care that queue times on tank and dps will soon go astronomical. They could even make a digital onion that heals with onion spray and cause its new all the sheeple will want to play it which will help balance the queue times. Absalute simple.

They had the same problem with the PTR and experimental card.

If there was something new, everyone wanted a go. It is to be expected

I’m more confused by people who complain about it and don’t apply logic first.

Again its obvious that people will play new heroes thats a given. So if the devs just keep creating new tank and dps heroes the queue times will be imbalanced. Simply work on support to fix the problem its so easy for them to fix. Waiting 12 minutes for a 7 minute game is a broken system.

… Yes, that’s why they’re releasing a Support hero next time. Were you not paying attention?

Support (fox girl from that terrible DM map) in next beta.

Then game launches
Season 2 - new tank (probably Mauga)
Season 3 - new map
Season 4 & 6 new heroes (they’ve hinted both will be supports)

(They’ve said they will be rotating new map and new hero each season. Meaning new hero every 18 weeks)

i think qeue times will be slightly higher for tanks than supports when everything starts to settle but the qeue times for dps will still be quite a bit higher than both still i’d imagine.

like sure they’ve slashed the qeue times for dps by 25%~50% but that’s still a big chunk of qeue time left.
it’s not really solved i think until they’ve gotten a good balance and made everything fun for everyone in general.

the goal has to be that the majority of players should feel good about playing as any role regardless.

Not a good start for ow2. i do hope the queue times will be much better in due time. like you said, the goal has to be that a majority of players should feel good about playing any role.

yeah well i think it’s a bit of a perception thing aswell, like tanks and supports have their distinct feel to them, like supports in general look and sound talk a lot more caring where as tanks are more light hearted comedic relief type of characters.
and in general people gravitate towards the more sexy/broody/seductive/edgy characters which tends to be most of the dps characters.

so they really have to work on this from the ground up and add like 10 new characters in both respective roles with this in mind if they even want to have a shot at an equilibrium in regards to qeue times.

Sorry. Changed it… But that’s 1 new support in October. Then another in may/June then another September/October.

3 supports, 2 tank and 1 DPS added in the first year sounds good to me.

That’s fine. People will still just play mercy on low ranks so it doesn’t really matter how many cool supports they add.
