Hi guys ,
So I have been playing overwatch for 2 years now and i still haven’t fiqured out how this QP mmr system works .It’s probably based on your skill and not on your levels.A friend of mine who’s almost grand master and is really annoying ,told me that levels and mmr has nothing to do with anything because he wants to play with us as group but the problem is,whenever he joins the group we kept getting either smurfs or player who can solo carry the whole game and when we all complain to him that it’s happening bcause of you ,he start talking about other grand masters and how they said mmr has nothing to do with anything and it only applies in comp.
So please all the grand masters out there ,help us out by replying to these simple questions.
1.If a high skill player joins your game, you’'ll be putting against the same high skilled enemies even tho other team members are low skilled ?
2.QP mmr does or does not effect your QP placement ?
3.Why aren’t we facing the same high skilled enemy players problem when we are not playing with him and as soon as he joins the group ,we are getting wrecked .
Please answer this question so we can die in peace and this is only about Quick play and not comp .
Take your mmr (if you never played comp, ask a lot of ppl in your qp games what they are ranked.)
Add the mmr of all 5 others, divide by 6 = team mmr
The enemies will be somewhere close to that.
This doesn’t factor anything else like role, hero, communication etc. Only the skill rating the system gives these accounts.
Example: a gold boy plays with his diamond friend against and with other platin players.
= equal skill rating of both teams
so what you are saying is .
if our team’s total mmr is let’s say “500” but that guy alone has 500 mmr so now our totall mmr would be 1k and we will be putting against players that has 1k mmr rating right ?
Correct.
Supposed you and 4 teammates have 100 mmr and the last one has 700 MMR. Your sum is 1200.
The game tries to find another team with the same sum. That could be either that all opponents have all 200 mmr or one opponent could have 700 mmr.
Matchmaking tries to make mirror matche first with mirror like opponents. It that doesn’t work, it becomes more liberal with group composition (6-stack, 3 duos, etc) and only focuses on group mmr then.
As a grandmaster every season since season 3 I can answer your question.
Yes, your mmr does matter a lot, the same as it would in comp. If a grandmaster is in your game then the enemy will also have a grandmaster or all the members will be higher to even out the total team mmr. Doesnt matter if your team has bronze and grandmaster together.
So yea everything your friend said is bs.
Im sad because of this I want to group up with other people in silver but they get destroyed because there is an enemy grandmaster because of me. And he plays a carry dps while im just a support.
QP should have the same group restriction like comp… high SR grouping with low SR ruins the game for everyone else! don’t do that!
And no, you being able to group with anyone you want is not more important then everyone else being able to have a fair game!
Sounds like a flawed system.
High skilled player has an off day, everyone on the team is below average MMR to balance up the total MMR, welcome to stomp of be stomped QP.
If you have played comp but not QP, will quick play use SR to come up with some idea where you should be match made to?
The flawed system is most likely the last system that occurs. After all, the Quality of matchmaking degrades over time.
Worst case, It just picks random players, regardless of their skill.
Though I think if they add the Winrate threshhold in QP, too, it would remedy the gameplay quality a lot.
