Quick Play Penalties

Hi, as someone who has played overwatch for a few years, I have to say I really don’t like the new penalties for quick play. I only really play quick play because I don’t enjoy comp very much and I play for fun. I don’t mind leavers as much as I mind being penalized for wanting to leave a match because I’m not having fun. Quick play has no bearing on your rank so I’m not really sure why the penalties are needed. I would understand if the leaving was very frequent, maybe like 5 in a day or something? But I left a game for the first time today and I was penalized. I wanted to suggest that the penalties be lessened or taken away. I love the game and there’s a reason I always come back to it— it’s very fun to play! But after this change in quick play, it’s become a little frustrating and it’s made me want to play other games.

100% mate. They really need to scrap the penalties in QP or they’ll lose more players.

The main problem with this sytem is that it doesnt`t refresh.
So like if you played 2 games 1 day and on 3rd left, then played after 2 weeks, also played 2 >1 left - it stacks. So even if you won’t play for 1-2 months and then login and leave 1 more- you will have penalty.
wich is strange… i think it should refresh each 3/7 days

101% agree, most people play QuickPlay to practice/casual play/away from ranked, trying to have a nice stress-free game, giving penalties for quitting an undesired comp match? for real now?
And what if the match was super toxic? Blizz expect everyone to sit around and sing kum-ba-ya? i rather quit right away and get away from those people.
OWLeagues over, let us just play casually on play on QuickMatch and just apply it Ranked/Comp NOT QUICKMATCH.

You only get penalized if you’ve left 4 or more games out of your last 20 games.
That’s a quarter of you recent games, doesn’t matter if they’re a month or a year apart it’s still the last 20 matches.

The penalties were implemented because the backfill system can’t work if the backfills leave too.

Before this system was implemented i had games where 3 or more backfills left my game, even if the first one got tossed in 10 seconds after the match started and could have played a full match.

I wouldn’t call that stress free playing as i was looking for a nice casual match but it was ruined by 4 people in a row and in that 2 minutes of 4v5 the enemy team had won the game because we didn’t have a tank.

I haven’t had such an experience after the penalties were added.

Comp gives you a penalty after the first leave, qp gives you 4 before you get 5 minutes. I’ve had a few dc’s since the update, but so far no penalties as i don’t leave intentionally. Which meant the leaves aren’t frequent enough to accumulate into a 4 out of 20.

If the match is toxic, report and block people. The blocking means you can’t see their chat messages and you can separately silence them on voice chat too.

that is what i say. you can play only 3-5 games in a month and leave 1 of it, after half a year you will still have it, wich is strange as it’s mainly need to affect short term frequent leavers

It is cheaper and easier to implement a single system.

That said, i’m sure it will get fine tuned as time goes on as it is still a very new thing.

Would you think that it would be a working solution if the game only counted matches played within a certain timeframe?
I could see that working pretty well.
It could just dismiss matches if enough time has passed.
A two week window maybe, or a month?

Because a single week could still be very disruptive.

Ya…I played quick play becuase I wanted to practice more as a new player
But why so many players are so toxic
How can I improve the skills in this game
I want to enjoy this game too
But I don’t see there were spaces for me to practice
It’s so sad. T^T

I can recommend using the practise vs ai modes if you are just getting used to a new hero, or if you’re very new you get more leeway to just explore the maps.

Most people think the mode is useless, but you can get to a gold rank skill level once you beat the higher difficulties with ease.

It’s a very relaxed mode where people are more ready to chat and emote and be silly since there’s no competition pressure that comes from pvp.

I leave because I do not wanna lose the whole damn time!

It can go hours without a single win so I rather leave the game instead of being tortured hour after hour!

Exactly, you shouldn’t get punished for it.

If you do lose, it will adjust your mmr and eventually you will get easier games.

And if you only want to win and leave if you don’t, i recommend moving to vs ai. Less people will be upset and there are no penalties there.
