The new suspension system is horrible. For one it doesn’t really accomplish much… Except some aggravation. As you can simply make an alt account and switch accounts.
My main gripe is that it even punishes you for leaving a backfill… Even if you’re afk in queue and simply dont have the time to get back to the keyboard and out the spawn door before you get timed-out… And ‘suspended’.
I would see the system removed altogether… But if not at least:
- Give us an option to opt out of backfills?
- Remove any penalty for leaving a backfill or at least if you get time-out kicked before even selecting a hero
- Provide a clear sound cue that you entered a Backfill… and maybe increase the time before you get kicked? (and for gods sake Blizzard - fix the match announcer already… Map name and “attack” or “defend” it’s been broken for so long… How hard can it be?)
- Give us map type selections or ‘preferences’ in QP queue (KOTH, Push, Payload, Flashpoint? … I would gladly ‘suffer’ a longer queue time - which is pretty much instant anyway - to avoid KOTH maps
Yes… I am one of the ‘sinners’… I sometimes leave matches. Mostly KOTH maps on selection screen (simply dont like the mode that much). But also matches where your team is just getting steam rolled.
Blizz cares a great deal about ‘fair’ matches… A good game experience. So they say anyway. So why should we be forced to endure matchmakings that are clearly not ‘fair’… Unless the ‘impossible’ challenge is your thing. To each their own.
For me at least… The new system also has the contra-productive effect that, if i feel forced to stay in a hopeless match for fear of ‘suspension’… I simply lose the will to fight. We all know that the ‘running-back-from-spawn-simmulator’ is not a good time

Wouldn’t need a suspension punishment if so many stopped leaving.
Wouldn’t need backfill if people stopped leaving.
Being able to opt out of a single map type while queueing could help with some people, but bad games do happen.
I’ve had more games than i can count where i’ve been snowballed in only 2 minutes or something with only 2 eliminations on my entire team.
Unless you’re queing at masters level you can basically find a game under 5 minutes these days.
Just surf/play on your phone while you queue, it’s easier to notice you get a game.
So true this.
People dislike backfill… but also want to be able to leave games for free… Seems contradictory.
I do think they could find a way to offer a better incentive to complete QP matches. Maybe XP boosts for the pass, or more credits. But even that would only probably persuade a handful of the leavers to stay.
Sadly this doesnt apply for consoles, since your account tends to be linked to your console account. But people still leave tons, they probably just playanother game if they get hit with the suspension.
If more than half of your games are backfill then ofcourse you’d want to leave for free. I wouldnt be complaining about the leavers suspension if i leave a game wich i entered at the beginning.
But people dont want to clean up other peoples messes, its simple as that. Its not fun. I got more time than others on my hand to play games but even i feel my time is being wasted with the huge amount of backfill games. I can only imagine how terrible this is for people who only got time to play 1 or 2 games a day and then only get backfill games. No wonder the player count is so low
If they want to be certain the don’t get backfill, they can play comp.
The games are double the length, but at least there’s no backfill.
I had a game today where 7 people left from my team during the first map of capture point.
I’m hoping they got hit, so maybe they will do it less in the future.
Whilst I understand this… It is quick play.
You aren’t meant to be try harding it. Just pick a hero you want to practice and see what happens.
Part of the problem with quick play atm is that people take it far too seriously and are far too desperate to win.
no, thats what the training grounds and atches vs bots are for.
Quickplay is also people trying to have a normal match just without rankings.
If you think quickplay is there for people who do play comp to mess around in then you are clearly part of the problem.People like you who think quickplay is there to ruin peoples matches by messing around, leaving or afking
And here you highlight the problem. Quick play is for playing how you want. If you want to sweat over it, go ahead, if another player wants to pick Lucio and wall ride round the map, they can
If you want to ensure everyone plays how you want them to play, 5 stack and shot call.
Otherwise. Chill. Go with the flow. Some games will be a mess. Some will be sweaty try hard games.
In reality, it’s no different to ranked. Except in ranked you have a shiny badge no one cares about. Until it changes next season (or when they bother rolling out the new version of ranked).

I have spent money on this game and it’s just a bit of a shame to the fact that if I have to be somewhere which I mean go and have tea with my family or the game itself takes me out of it because of a crash or my imternet goes off leading mt to then have to be suspended. I think its absolutely shocking. There are reasons people have to leave a game suddenly. So get your facts straight, stop taking people’s money, and then just suspending them. Cause its unfair, and people will lose interest in the game
