Quickplay matchmaking

Hello, I know this kind of thread was opened over and over , so sorry for anyone that read it again.

But please please please FIX the quickplay matchmaking, I am sick to face diamond/master/gm when I am almost unranked or a low gold…

I don’t care if it make me wait more I rather prefer to wait more than watch a deathcam show for 10 minutes. Thank you.

Hi there

I’m sorry that you feel bothered by gm/masters/… in your QP games.
It really doesn’t seem fair, even in QP.

A few months back I’d probably thought the same, but in the past weeks I changed my POV on these (un)lucky coincidences.

I actually tried to learn from them, anticipating their moves. Sure I died more often then usual (my elo: high silver - low/mid gold) but it is/was very educational.
(improvise - adapt - overcome)

So what I want to say is, don’t get tilted or frustrated if you see a much better player in your/the other team, embrace it.

  • Learn from him/her
  • learn from your deaths
  • where does he/she come from
  • is he/se sneaky (maybe Genji/Tracer/DF/Sombra)
  • is he/she using high grounds and just clicks heads

you don’t get help from your team? No healing, no peeling, no barriers to hide behind?
Learn to survive on your own (sth you learn the hard way as a sup, esp. Ana, main).

You’re not alone Buddy. Lots of players (me too) are on the same road.

I hope I didn’t offend you in any way, that’d be absolutely not my intention.
Just a few tips I got as well. Sure you can’t learn from me as we are somewhat on the same elo, but maybe it helps you enjoy such games a bit more.
Have fun :slightly_smiling_face:

The entire point of a matchmaker is to put people of similar skills together. If its not a problem to get stomped by people vastly superior to you, if it is a great “learning” experience why having a matchmaker at all?

No need to use quotation marks, but still …
I never said, that the matchmaker is working properly, it has ist flaws. But it’s still just a game.
So relax and make the best out of a match you’re about to lose due to higher ranked opponents.
If you want to get tilted, frustrated, salty or whatever that’s up to you.
There are enough problems to handle in real life so I don’t want to get a bad mood because of a mere game and pixels.

Above is just the way I deal with it as I can’t change anything about the matchmaker or anything else.
I, as an average player, want to improve, so I use those kind of matches to work on positioning, ult tracking, movement prediction, … against players on a level I won’t reach anytime soon.

In my simple opinion it would be great to get mates of the same ± 1 elo as you are.
So saying you are gold, you’ll get also silver and plat players. Which in most of my QP games is already happening. Sometimes dia and in rare cases master and above (but I guess also bronze sometimes).

No offence, probably is the most polite answer I ever had.

I get your point and usually I try to be positive about that.

But 1 game against people clearly on a higher elo than mine (happy for them and their results ofc) … fine

2… fine

3… my nerves begin to become red

4… really??? I am bored to see a deathcam show for 10 minutes

perfectly understandable.
When I get caught in a lose streak, I finish the current match and pause for a while. Sometimes minutes, sometimes hours or even a week or two.
And then when I really want to play, I’ll start again.

In some cases it is just better to get distracted.
You can’t change the system (unfortunately) and the longer your losing streak lasts the worse you’ll play yourself.

Sorry that I can’t offer you any help but enjoy your life and don’t let the frustration of a game get to your heart.
Do something with your friends/Family f.e. and find joy in Overwatch again when you feel like it.
