this stupid game won’t let me leave a NON COMPETETIVE MATCH without PENALISING ME. I was doing something on my phone for literally 5 seconds, picked a character, realised id joined a game that had already begun, fps lagged, hadn’t left spawn, got kicked. Tell me why i get a 10 minute ban on every single game mode except custom games. This is ridiculous. No wonder overwatch loses players every day. Ive never felt this uninclined to play overwatch, as i have been playing for 4 years now and still loved this game. It is so disheartening to see its shocking downfall. I mean, i scrolled through the ‘General Discussions’ section on these forums, and every single post is a complaint. That in itself says a LOT about the laziness and awful game changes that the devs have made. REMOVE QUICKPLAY PENALTIES.

Ye. It’s bad.
The suspension only accomplishes one thing, and that is making players close the game.

Don’t you dislike your team leaving, and leaving again and again. One game i had we didn’t have a tank for 4 minutes.
Another game i spent a minute with another teammate waiting for backfills. And this was right after the first attack, people left a perfectly winnable game, and all the backfills left too.
That is not fun, just play. You get into a game, so why not play?
I’ve turned losing games around with insane overtime pushes as a backfill of 1 minute remaining.
I’ve left only one game in my last hundred or more, and that was because my game crashed.
You absolutely can get punished for a single game.

I wouldnt mind the suspension for leaving a single game. But then the game shouldnt be putting me into unwinnable backfill messes more than half of my games.

I stopped reading after that.
If you are being forced out (dc’s, power cut, so on) Fix that first before worrying about a video game.
If you only occasionally dc due to reasons out of your control, you should be fine as long as you don’t leave games intentionally on top of that.
It should take 4 leaves in your last 20 games to hit the 10 minute penalty and over 6 for the 30 minutes.
That said, it’s a new feature and new features are always a little buggy.
the best thing you can do is not discuss this on the forums at all daisy. why not you may ask? because this overwatch community doesnt want to hear it.
there are ofcourse some coincidences by which cases they would listen however they only revolve around a specific set of audiences that only care about their opinions being validated by others. best thing to do about these penalties is to suck it up or to uninstall and wait for the next update.
but im pretty sure overwatch 2 is never going to change any confirmed update(s) they made. kinda like (disney) star wars and the rights they bought to change anything they want because they believe everyone thinks they are awesome in which case they are not.
but i extremely agree with you however, quickplay is suppose to be quickplay or else what do words even mean in this world. but then i imagined that there are always these specific type of people that want to feel special or validate by an audience that wants to stay in denial, shrug it off and say something like: quickplay actually means something else. even though all we have to do is find the words in the dictionary and paste it here on what they actually did wrong about how it obstructs the word quickplay inside the game.
because how do you call quickplay if you get suspended for leaving one single match nowadays? stopwatch? oh wait. we already have that word in the dictionary.
